NCT.... N.U.T's

Postby gfalls » Fri Sep 19, 2008 6:00 pm

My P&J in this morning. Third one at the same centre in Carlow. Guy comes out and tell me it has failed...??!!?? Guess why?? Apparently there is a live wire coming from my battery. It goes into the back of my bluetooth adapter. Been there since I got the car. He fails it because he can't see an inline fuse.

I thought he was kidding, but no. He tells me to disconect it and he'll pass the car. Alright I said, can you lend me a pair of pliers, and I'll just cut it. He tells me they don't have tools in the centre, and to go and find a garage.

Raging, dosen't quite express my disbelieve. Went round to my mates garage, and he disconected it inbetween fits of laughter...!

I suppose they just have to find something to fail you on. Must be for the craic...Eh.?

that's nuts, they can't fail you on that can they?

I had a Sony bluetooth in my last company car and the inline fuse was hidden in the dash.

Is this a documented check / fail item per the NCT Test Manual that is available online (link is also in this forum) ? Would be interesting to see whether things like this are in there.

Bald at one or both edges of any/all tyres is fine, as long as it doesn't come more than an inch or so (can't remember exact measurements) towards the centre - once again, these exact details are all specified in the manual.

What's in the manual is one thing, what's safe is another.
