heh...

Waiting to receive my first FTO at the moment so not in the market to buy just now, and not even sure if anyone can answer this, but curious anyway - the spoiler is unusual, is there any noticeable different in handling with the one that's on this and the 'standard' FTO say GR spoiler?

Does look excellent though... not sure how I feel about the gold wheels with white body but think it could grow on me...

I had bought this for myself so I have an original GPversionR spoiler and a set of white 17" alloys on the way over from japan which I would sell with the car.

This is what it will look like with original Spoiler and wheels. But far lower:

I dont think there would be much difference untill about 100mph! But at speed there would be increaced downforce( more downforce than the GR spoiler but the version R spoiler is designed to improve the overall aerodynamics of the FTO).

Was thinking there wouldn't be much until you got up the speedometer alright... wouldn't mind getting on a track & comparing (chances of happening = VERY low) sometime...

Well, it would be just for curiousity, and chances of someone with one of those spoilers letting me drive his/her pride & joy around a track at 100mph... I don't fancy them! :P not saying I'm a bad driver  but would you let a stranger do that with your FTO?

Maybe if it I had 2 boots, one with each type of spoiler and swapped them over... hmmmm think I'll just stay being curious for now.

The Mondello track days, are they on often?

See this postre trackdays, I tried generating some interest without too much coming from out of it. As regards the Version R spoiler, theres little or no difference in terms of aerodynamics (aero spoiler is a bit of a misnomer IMO), the difference is mainly cosmetic. I swapped out the standard spoiler for a vR a few months see a comparisonhere.

How come there are no skirts on the car. I would have thought all GP Version R's would have been fitted with sideskirts or were they an optional extra like everything else. Same goes for the folding mirrors, this Version R has the same mirror switch as the GS, no folding mirrors.

Yeah - No folding mirrors or side skirts on the GPvR - the GPX is the best equiped FTO model - As the GPvR is the lightweight model it does without such fineries - also does without Climate Control AFAIK. I'm pretty sure there's a few more differences as well but can't think of them off the top of my head.

Only the GPvR Aero series has sideskirts but not foloing mirrors AFAIK. I wonder why theres no side Mivec stickers? Previous owner must have removed them for some reason...

Yes, this one has been totally de-badged.

Kevin- I saw your new FTO down at the docks today. I reconised it from the Alloys! they are tiny. Do you have an agent to collect it for you? It looks like its been there for a while, sitting all sad in a corner by its self!

Hey,

heh, will have to change those alloys quick then!

Arrived in Sunday, but been in docks in Japan from start of March to start of July and on a ship since so been sitting around a while alright! I'll be up tomorrow to collect it and give it some TLC.

Using one of the agents the shipping guys recommended, they secured it when it arrived, and are sorting out customs & VAT and stuff for me -> why I haven't collected it yet, should be cleared this morning/afternoon (Tuesday) or tomorrow morning at the latest.

Excellent, can't wait to get behind the wheel... stoopid question though, how does one get to the docks in Dublin? In particular where my FTO is at of course? My brother is driving me up in the morning, coming from Cork but neither of us know anything about Dublin docks. Is it near the Point by any chance?

Also, I guess I'll need to get number plates made up, customs assign the reg to the car supposedly. Anywhere nearby that'll do it handy?

The road that the cars are kept is Alexandra road. Its not far from the point theater. There are signs for dublin Port all over the city.

As for the Reg number you will get that in your local VRT office when you pay the VRT.

Enjoy your FTO!

Guys,

Why not just buy one like CJ did in the UK. UP Auto I think. A GP Vr is not a GP Vr without the spoiler

CJ - do you have the details - I haven't been able to source one in the UK - I know the genuine ones have different bolt holes and the replicas have the same holes as the standard spoiler - what did you pay/where did you get yours??

Yep, APAuto are the crowd you're looking for, they do the vR copy for £140.
You may have to drill a hole or two but its not a big job. Genuine vR spoilers are very rare and they cost a fortune, the copy is exactly the same - the main difference is that its made from fibreglass.

Anybody looking for original Version R spoilers: I have a container coming in from japan and have room to fit a few inside cars. They are very, very expensive though. You might be better of with the copies.

Sent a mail to up auto awhile back reply below.....

Thank you for your e-mail, regarding of your enquiry :

The FTO Version R Spoiler is in stock. 140 GBP + VAT

The P + P cost for sending the Version R Spoiler to Ireland is 70 GBP + VAT

Therefore the total cost is 140 GBP + 70 GBP = 210GBP + VAT = 246.75 GBP

17.5% VAT is charged on all orders from the European Union.

For overseas order we only use Bank transfer method / Bank Draft for payment
in Sterling only, due to we can't check to verify the credit card at all and
company have been losing a lot of money through commercial fraud by credit
card payment.

If there is any more enquiries, please don,t hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards
Tony
