Speaker sizes...

Postby ultrakupra » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:55 am

Ok,so yesterday i realized that my driver side rear speaker is not working...Im gonna change all the speakers, front two ones, and rear two ones.
Which size have i look for? i google about it and there are speakers of all kind of sizes,so im a bit confused.
And if you dont mind, please recommend me good makers so i can make an idea of which ones purchase.

Thanks^^
I'm spanish, sorry if my english is so poor,i learned it at school when i was a kid and i forgot almost all of it lol

If you're fitting 6x9 in the back, make sure they don't have tweeters attached as the fto grills won't fit on over. Fronts are indeed 6.5"

if you cut the hatched crossed plastic off below the grills they will fit , had to do this when i bought a set of rear speakers with tweeters attached . never took it onto account but a bit off thinking all all was well. few centimetres between the tweeters and grills used double sided on my rears when fitting them into the hole spaces, jus under around the lip of the speakers to absorb any vibrations off the speakers. you can get slightly bigger speakers for the front if you want but will need to make bigger brackets for them. did it in my last fto using some mdf wood.here is link that came in handyhttp://www.mitsubishi-fto.org/pdf/front_speakers.pdf

From memory doesn't the plastic stop the mesh from vibrating. I did this in the blue fto and it was hassle. You don't need tweeters in the back of an fto anyway.

Grand if you have a set with tweeters lying around, if buying then one without tweeters would be easier to fit.

of course. i bought my speakers before looking at the grills. can you take tweeters off the speakers without ruining them cos i have a spare speaker shelf i could use if i could take off the tweeters.

You have to take it off to get to the 2 screws that hold the parcel in place.
It takes 2 seconds to get the rear seat off.

Removing the back seat and plastic cover above the speakers shouldn't take any more than 10 minutes assuming you have a socket and suitably sized screwdriver.
