Broken Alloy Lock nut screw...

Terrible description I know.

Somehow I've maaged to break off the part that attaches the alloy to the car. Its now stuck in the lock screw. Was just tightening the alloy on when *bam* nut becomes loose. Took out nut and see that the screw bit (no idea what its called) has broken clean off the car.

First thought is that this is going to be a pain in the **** to fix and very expensive too unless I just need a new screw + bolt

Anyone care to put me out of my misery?

EDIT: On the bright side the alloys turned out pretty good :cry:

a new hub?


i reckon you can drive with 4 nuts holding the wheel , you wont pass the NCT though

Don't have one for sale by any chance Seb? Might take a bonnet for a project if you have one handy also.

NCT on 28th Of August so I may aswell get one soon, I'll only be under pressure to get one later if I don't.

Repeat exams coming up too, oh joy!

hubs are both sold dude sorry ,
i have a bonnet there Free* to pick up ASAP ( skip waiting :) )

You could buy a countersink drill set to remove the thread part if you had a good set and drill,if the hub is cheaper buy that.

Yea simple, no need to spend over hundred for new bearing,
You will need both of these:
Wheel nut (pm seb for nut if its standard one) theres no point trying to get the stud out.

Then you will need to get to take off the wheel,
And tap out the rest of the stud so hammer is needed for this
and you can drive the car with 4 wheel nuts but you know 5 would be ideal so dont wait too long to get the new stud

I think I gots one of these Uncle B! :) The same thing happened to me, and I got a couple spares off Rory. I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know. I'm only down in Limerick, so if you were in a hurry you could pop down for it. If its there, you can have it for free, but I'm sure a small donation to the site would always be welcome. :wink:

I've had to replace a couple of those a couple of years back myself, not a big hassle. One was sheared when I got the car first, and the other just kept turning so couldn't get the nut off. Took a lot longer to drill off the nut than to replace the stud.

Cool TC, sure let me know if you have it and we'll take it from there, I should check if any of the other Limerick members have a spare nut and/or bonnet and my pre exam shopping will be complete :D
