Maserati

Postby baldtyres » Fri Oct 13, 2006 1:02 am

I know very little about Maserati only that there's a couple knocking about the SE. Considered looking into buying one myself but was afraid of the ownership costs... ie. insurance, parts, service, reliability etc.

Touch of class to that car.

Wouldn't mind an update on info you gather!

Skyline

Yeah GT94, definite beast of a car, neighbour of mine has a slightly older one but looks great as he obviously looks after it!
Still prefer the maserati!
Only an opinion though, getting on a bit and running my own business now so I need to lose the petrolhead image.
Cant speak for the rest of the country but nearly all of the roads in the Waterford area lowered their speedlimits to Ridiculously slow speeds after the change to Klm so it's becoming more difficult to enjoy a fast car without some a55hole clocking you going 5 or 6 over the limit and leaving you with penalty points.

Go on RussMan, go after the Masarati!
Actually the XK8's look the business too!

Anyone know much about these cars... i.e Service Centres... possibilities of getting non OEM parts ... REliability if driven each day (but looked after) .. known issues etc etc

There's a definite resemblance to the FTO. Looks like you're a creature of habit... a bit more power this time round though.

Too heavy and its not a GTR!

Another fantastic choice Muad ;) I can't fault the Rex in terms of looks (slightly understated if I may say so), handling and raw power.

I'd love an nsx... lots of prestige with plenty of power... only problem is finding a manual at the right price!!! The F-Matic gearbox is apparently pants to say the least. 2 seats and a baby boy don't mix to well either but maybe i'll get around Agent S yet :) (that right honey??)

Nice cars, as regards servicing I'd say you'd be looking at having to head up North to Charles Hurst. Would be worth looking at that car on Irish plates if only to take a look at the service invoices (probably looking at 4-digit figures for large services).

Check out the invoice from Charles Hurst on this link.
It's for a ferrari 360, but you get the idea.
On second thoughts I'd expect the likes of Des Cullen to be able to offer servicing, considering all the prestige motors he sells.
One of the lads on octane bought a Cerbera recently this might give you some food for thought.

I like the NSX too, but vastly overpriced IMO especially for an aging car.

I love the NSX - ageing or not it's got that super car look about it and still has better performance than most other modern cars around today.... food for thought there...

Out of curiousity, I asked the Revenue for a VRT quote on a 91 NSX (not listed on their site), this is what came back:

If the vehicle is examined as a high spec vehicle the estimate is EUR 7371
vrt due.
If the vehicle is examined as a standard spec vehicle the estimate is EUR
7020 vrt due.

The robbin' barstards! Assuming a 20k landed pricetag pre VRT, you're talking big money - certainly more than I would have anticipated.
