Tyres

Well lads,
Needing 4 new tyres for the jammer and want to know what you lads would swear by in terms of brands and suppliers?

Any horrible experiences that I should steer clear of?

Looking to shoe my horse on wolfrace alloys, apparently tyre spec is 205/45/17

Also these Vredersteins are really good but seem quite expensive now :(

Very quiet tires and awesome grip in my opinion.

Not bad, the Uniroyal out does them on wet grip and fuel efficiency with very similar noise rating. Price is not bad for 17"

No, not really. I got both tires atm on different cars and ive launch both on wet, If i have to be honest i found Vredersteins much better even wet road wise and this is in comparision to Uniroyat the rain tyres! Both are quite quiet but Uniroyal is just that lil more noisy, both tires are good fuel economy wise.

Still Uniroyal wins price wise tho and i would probably buy em seen that the Vrederteins got quite expensive now :(

Cheers for the suggestions lads, regarding tyre size the company I got the alloys from reckons 205/45 but most garages I speak to recommend 215/45

If I go 215 will I be really rubbing my arches or would it be safe?

Depends on wheel width. If there 7j then 205 is right.

@brccrx I didn't know you got the new Uniroyal Rainsport 3's. Was thinking of putting 4 of them on the mirage.

I have Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta's on my FTO. Their a great tyre and have great grip in the wet.

You can get a set on camskill for £326 + £32 P&P. Discount tyres fitted them for me no problem.

Originally when I bought my FTO there were Yokohama Parada Spec 2's on the front. There were also very good tyres in the wet.

Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta's have C wet grip rating only also fuel efficiency is E only.

Did You try to take of in rain holding say 3k revs from standstill?

With Sportracs5 i was able to take of in rain with minimum wheel spin and ive noticed big improvement in fuel economy having em on my car.
Savage tire, if there anything better in this price range it has to be just biting in to the wet road like. :ll

Edit:

Ive just notice this:

http://www.camskill.co.uk/m54b0s304p111 ... se%3A_72dB

Well worth trying the next time i guess

Yeah they'll spin from a standing start in the wet if you give too much power.

i'll keep the Sportracs5 in mind for my next set.

I've used Eagle F1s since I bought the car (more recently these Asymmetric ones) I've nothing to compare them against but can't complain.
These look interesting, a bit on the pricey side but the reviews are very good.

To update this I went with Rainsport 3 from Discount Tyres out in Rosemount Business Park. Nice lads, cost me roughly 400 notes all in which I thought was ok.

So far so good on the tyres themselves, good grip wet and dry, not too noisy at all.

I had Rainsports 2, awful, awful things, never again and they weren't cheap. Sidewalls are atrocious and wear is ridiculous. They aren't that great in standing water either. My back end got very light in them.

I bought Dunlop Sport Blue Response from Camskill recently for my other car Iggy, and they are brilliant! Fantastic in the wet, standing water and the grip is unreal. Can turn a lot quicker into bends now and truly improves handling. Brilliant in dry and very quiet too. I will be buying them for the FTO.
