RA Scooby had a built engine - conrods, pistons, camshaft etc etc - 550bhp. Fantastic car - not really fair to compare a car that had 10's of thousands spent to a standardish Evo 8 with a clutch on the way out.

The best cars are always parked in the 1/4 mile paddock - not the show and shine - its a pity in one way that they don't allow people a chance to view the drag cars and see the lengths some guys go to for a quick time. I really like the 1/4 mile paddock if only to get a chance to talk to some true petrol heads.

Ah heres a question I wanted to ask actually, the RA Scooby, whats the major difference about it. Is it the same as what I call a P1 Scooby? I see them for sale over here and was wondering.

I've been considering getting another practical car at some point (come back VR-4, all is forgiven!) and the Evo VII is on the list. Why the 7 says you? The reason is I'm not a fan of standard evo bonnet \ spoiler combo for lots of reasons but swapping in a bonnet and spoiler from a VII GTA is childs play.

Downside: Its looks like a standard Lancer \ its not to everyones taste \ its an Evo
Upside: street sleeper \ shams in EG Civics leave you alone \ its an Evo

Opinions?

But the standard Lancer from that era has this front end...
The FMIC is a bit of a giveaway too :D

Yeah - I can see why you'd rather not have that bonnet - but I'd also completely remove the rear spoiler, debadge and go for an ultra clean look. Set of Eibach springs or coilovers and it would finish the look nicely.
The FMIC, the stance and the big brembos would be enough clues for knowledgeable petrol-heads.

not true...... well the 0-60 was slower but a girl (danni) in her evo did the 1/4 mile 2 yrs ago and got 11.something seconds for the time.....

i dunno which id get if i had to...... suppose it would depend on what im looking for daily driver/drag car/wkend driver?
looks wise evo wins everytime..... scooby just doesnt do it for me! :D

Could be wrong but think there was a Scooby that done it around the 10s mark two or maybe 3 year's ago down there just goes to show that these car are more or less the same but the more money you put into them the faster they will be, I like the old Scooby the 4 or 5 but the Evo 7 or 8 is also very nice, As ye know John had a Scooby which was nice and quick but dew to that would go for the Evo 7 or the R34
