OT but when you say 10 years ago Shane did you have an almost brand new FTO so? Who had the first FTO in the country? Kace? (Cause of the sig I'm guessing)

Def didn't have the first FTO in the country but bought a 20K mile '95 GR Tip back in 99 for 8500 Irish Punts. It had been tied up in some legal dispute and sitting in a garage for 2 years. It was mint - never felt that way about a car before or since. I first saw an FTO while living in Malahide back in 96-97 - thought it looked the dogs danglies at the time and once I got rid of the company car I bought one.

Quinn Direct
My original policy was €500 on a 1.6 316 coupe
When i got insured on the Fto i had to pay another €100 with about 6 months left on the policy.
They wouldnt even quote me first though for some reason, said they didnt insure the gpx which was rubbish because the guy i bought it from was with quinn. Had to tell them i had bought the car

they told me the same. had to pay 88 euro more from the mitsubishi mirage coupe (which is for sale if anyone is interested) till march but wouldn't quote me either.
they said they can't do it unless it is within a month of the insurance renewal otherwise the no claims ect wouldn't be counted for that years insurance

i'm seriously dreading this renewal coming up guys and gals. won't be good.
I have 8 years NCB which was protected but had a claim 2 years ago. So my NCB sheet says

"8 years NCB"
"2 years claims free driving"

hmm... makes you wonder whats the point?

Age: 30
NCB: 8 Years (2 claims free)
License: 7 years full licence
Model: GPvR
850euro fully comp protected

I don't mind anything under 1k. but thats my limit. cannot justify spending more than 1000euro a year on insurance. cannot believe I paid 3,800punt on a 1.6 xr3i escort back in the day. I suppose, no rent, no mortgage, no woman, no responsibilities back in those days. :)

Quinn might surprise me and offer a renewal of under 1k. doubt it though. they upped my policy to 1300euro last year from 900 because of the claim? I argued it to the ombusman and quinn agreed to offer 850 which I accepted. I argued that they could not increase my policy almost 50% because of the claim because I am paying 100euro a year no claims protection etc. they backed down.
