Is it normal for lights (2) and (3) to come on with the igntion? (and then go off again) ?

can anyone tell me how much fuel there has to be in the tank before the petrol light comes on cause my fuel meter gets to nothing and still no light is there a chance the bulb has blown??

Thought that myself for a long time, but it has to be really low, talking below the E line. I think its something like 8 litres iirc.

8 litres is a little short of 2 gallons, if you round it up to 30mpg you're looking at 50 miles or so. *insert disclaimer about running out of petrol and having to walk when trying this out here*

yeah make sure you have a petrol can full in the boot(martin cahill stylie :lol: )

My fuel warning light fades in and out for about 15 miles before going constantly on.

I reckon that I have about 35 miles of fuel left from when it fades on first.

best off keeping the fuel up to at least the quater mark if possible

Well it sounds like its your washer resevoir alright if it flashed when you stopped quickly.
Did you check to see if it needs refilling?
Id say fill it and your fine
