Having worked on aircraft for over 15 years now this has got to be one of the most crazy things I have ever seen, even for the yanks  . He says that the intakes are at the side and top  . Turbine engines like these ideally need a straight thru positive airflow or the compressor will stall and then you could well have bits of titanium flying round your head, not a pretty sight. This bloke is lucky he's still living
mmmm!! GPX........and its not all mine anymore....:-(

Agreed - There is a lot of (bad) photoshopping going on here. As well as the fact that its on near standard wheels, suspension, tyres and brakes. The interior shots are not even from that car. Even the idea of the car is ridiculous.

The pics look pretty convincing to me  , mffto why do you think it's photoshopped and shows a different interior?. Why would anyone with a clean e-bay record pretend to sell something that will cost them 30 or 40 quid in fees? Why, Why Why :? ....not that I care about the auction but I'd like to know how to spot fake pics.

and I agree, the idea is ridiculous

Ridiculas it is, photoshopped it aint.

Theres videos of it in action on the net aswell, i dont have links to hand but im sure it can be googled.

Its not the first time something like that has been done either - http://www.aardvark.co.nz/pjet/turbinenuts.shtml etc.

This looked photoshopped to me - Maybe its just me - its just too unbelievable that someone would use an MR2 as a test mule for a twin turbined car - why twin turbines - was one not enough? There would be serious weight and balance issues affecting handling and braking and it looks absolutely naff on the outside - all those internals and all he does on the outside is to strap what looks like a fairly ineffective looking and illegal wing to the front of the car. If its real - (and on mature recollection it may well be  ) then it looks like he spent all the money on the engines and electrics and forgot about the rest.

Ive heard of Jet engined cars/ bikes for drag racing before but that looks seriously photoshopped.

Im guessing thats a parachute down the under the turbines for braking, I really couldnt be 100% whether its real or not!

Is this the same car? If so, it brings MfFTOs photoshop spotting into question :smt103

It is yeh.
Its real Im telling ya (I dont know why the rear photo looks so fake, but I agree it does), when I first came across it we were all looking at it in work saying definately a photoshop but if you google it you'll find the owner discussing the finer technical details of the thing (which all flew right over my head) on various forums all over the place, aswell as more pics and videos.

So yeh, I think its real (or otherwise I have truely been duped!).

Looking at it again I think its to do with the black yokes around the, um, outlet pipe thingies (not well up on my turbines terminology, whats the right name for those?). They're not on right and make the outlets look to be at a strange angle, which then make it look fake methinks...

A quick update on this one...

Just in case anybody was still wondering..

This car actually made it on the the Jay-Leno show.

As such you can be fairly sure that atleast one eBay employee would have verified the exsistence of the vehicle.

Wouldn't mind a test drive!
