To tint or not to tint

Postby CJ » Fri Apr 25, 2008 1:31 pm

In true Jap style, the previous owner of the VR-4 tinted the rear and side windows (although I reckon it could be a factory option). I'm thinking about getting the the front side windows tinted (not as dark) to enhance the sleeper look and to bring some consistency to the side profile. Should I or shouldn't I, what do you think?

I'd have to agree that the tint would improve the look IMO, make it even more stealthy.
Only thing I would bear in mind (and I'm sure you've much more experience in this area that me) is that when I was looking to buy the FTO, one had tinted windows, and man it felt gloomy in there. You probably won't have the same issue with the VR, its a lot bigger inside, and I know you said you wouldn't tint is as dark.
As always its very much a matter of personal taste, and shes savage as is.

Tint for sure.... it would look great. The company "Shades" beside you there at work would be handy too. I got the XC90 done there, great work.

I'd go for a 35% tint (a 50% tint would be too light IMO)

I'd recommend Vision in Walkinstown, they do a 10 year warranty on all work

Absolutely definately tint! But I'd go for dark smoke same as the rears. Only thing to watch for is the visibility through the tint, think Colm knows the story here. You shouldnt have too much of a problem doing it yourself too cause the front windows are pretty easy.

Take your point and it would look crap on the likes of a BMW or an Audi but I think you can just about get away with it on a Jap sedan....

Yep - Its a JDM thing really.

I'd say you'll have issues with visibility (not to mention the law) if you go as dark on the front side windows as the back.

My take wouldn't be a cheap option I'm afraid - tint all side windows with a more slight tint.
