clear indicator bulb legality

Postby Chris_Heilong » Wed Nov 07, 2012 4:27 pm

so looking to do the Mx 5 side repeater mod, got the clear repeaters but I didnt want the fried egg look with the orange bulb in the middle, so I purchased some chrome bulbs that flash orange but are these legal in Ireland, I remember something here posted by Colm but cant find it.

They're perfectly legal. As long as they flash amber, they're fine. I had them on my 318 and they went through the nct too no hassle. Can you do a video, or atleast take some snaps of any mods you need to get them to fit?

I have been running these for about 10 years - no issues. How much were they. They look nice. Mine cost an arm and a leg at the time.

Thats good news, I bought the indicators off gt94 on here for €20, I got the bulbs from ebay for €4. I plan to take the brace off the old indicators and melt it onto the new mx 5 ones.

Maybe a good quality glue would be better?

Have you tried sourcing the clear D-Speed winkers/side repeaters from Japan? Not sure if they're hard to find or not but would be less hassle than converting the MX-5 ones.

The D-Speed ones look nicer and fit straight in.... but they do cost an arm and a leg compared to the MX-5 ones.
