Mine charged perfectly just wouldnt pass that point because of the pack inside

Seeing that mine is not a mivec, would the alternator have any think to do with this problem. What would happen if i disconnect it

This is what happen below, when it first started.

Found my original post when it first happened below:

I have really used my GR for the last 2 weeks or so, got in it for the first time and noticed the battery was dead. Got the jump leads on her and every think fired up, been driving around today without any issues. I decided to put my foot down as the traffic was a pain to get out of a junction and when the car hit 4k rev it was stuttering like mad, i released my foot of the accelerate and it proceed to go into 2nd,3rd and 4th.

I tried it again before and it does it in any gear, anybody had a similar experience.

FTOs are famous for easy to fail alternators,i would say the alternator is starting to fail maybe.

Undertake a diagnostic yourself, its a 10 min job and easy to do. Search for for info and report back on the results.

I did carry one out, it was flashing N very quickly.

I did take it to the garage the other day, and the code that come up was the TPS. The guy cleared the codes and asked me to return on Tuesday, to see if it stored any more codes so i will have to wait until then.

All i want is some pointers to see if any think could be causing these issue, if the TPS does not show up i will be out of ideas to whats causing this.

If the TPS is faulty and codes are cleared, the code will reappear pretty much straight away. A malfunctioning TPS can be the cause of a couple of different problems, its worth ruling it out now.

*Update*

Driving it today and decided to put my foot down and it revved past 4000rpm, so i thinking it might be down to a loose connection. I was about to take off the engine temp sender and give it a clean but couldn`t find a 19 inch spanner, so i think it might have some think to do with this sensor as i removed the connector.

Found what I believe was the problem, it was a loose connector under the steering column. I done a lighting mod a few months back and the connector must of worked it's way loose, I am well happy

Problem hasn`t gone away, all i know is there appears to be a issue with the wiring from the air flow meter or some where in that bung of wires. Does any body have a GR that can give me the resistance measurement of the different pins on the air flow meter.

Why don't you update your location in your profile.
You might be able to meet up with a local GR owner and make some comparisons.

I doubt i will come all the way over to cork, but thanks.

If you could measure the resistance on the following.

Wire 1: White / Black
Wire 2: Red / Grey Dash
Wire 3: Black / Dash
Wire 4: Red / Blue Strip
Wire 5: Green / White

It doesn`t matter which one you do, but if you could go from wire 1 to wire 5 and let me know the resistance thanks.

hi
i'v a 95 gpx for sale, mine stopped revvin above 5k then 4 then 3 until it just stopped drivin. 3 mechanics, about €1000 in parts and labour later, stealroe on the site figured it out for me. ended up the cat convertor was blocked solid. if you just loosen the manifold and try revving it you'll know if this is the problem. ten minute job

hope this helps

Hi, can I post my question here?
Where do I tap my AutoGauge tachometer (green wire) on the engine bay? I've read that there's a transistor and an RPM diagnostic port on the engine bay.
Was hoping somebody would post pictures of that part? Thanks in advance.

theres an ignition timing sensor on your Throttle body.
Its got 2 bolts on it where you can loosen them and adjust the position.

Put the car into neutral try rev to 5k
Slightly loosen the bolts and start to adjust the position only adjust it slightly and then test by revving to 5k. It would be handy to use a friend to rev the car while you adjust it.

Hope it helps
