Networking courses - any suggestions?

Postby IrishPhoenix » Tue May 02, 2006 5:25 pm

Am thinking of doing a networking course online and am wondering which one would be most practical (employability, useful) in starting in this career direction. I did web design for 2.5 years but that was a few years ago and have a choice between doing more languages in that area or moving into networking.

Was looking at this course on FAS website. If someone could have a browse through it and the other courses in the menu and offer some suggestions I would be grateful.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

IP, this looks like a good baseline course with emphasis on TCP/IP, it would be well worth doing if you were planning on going this direction from a work perspective. The next step up would be the likes of the Cisco ICND (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices). I've worked with networking for the past 8 years or so, you only really learn this stuff properly if you're actively putting it to practice in a work environment. That said, most of thses courses include lab work which helps towards building up a solid understanding of the subject matter. Here are some other courses you might consider:
