Farewell Betsie!!

Postby optical illusion » Mon Nov 10, 2008 2:01 pm

Betsie (or Ferrari Felicia) was a special car, she would do 0- 60 in 10 minutes, but she got you from A to B. She had her own personality, I'd have to push start her on my own a lot of mornings, sometimes in heels and a skirt, the odd time all her electrics would just fail going 120 on the motorway, sometimes she would just fire perfectly on a -5 morning. Water would get through her somehow, we could never figure out where, and you'd have a little puddle in the footwell to wake up to in the morning... Derek's Mum had her for 10 years from new, then Derek for 2 years, then it was my first car for 6 months... we all learned to drive in her, passed our tests in her (tester asked me if I wanted to take a break after doing a turnabout in her)

Despite all this we still loved Betsie and had many's a good memory in her. She's been sitting out the back since I got knightrider and none of us have had the heart to bring her to the scrapyard. She left us recently, and we all cried (ffs like, over a car!!!)

BUT!! The good news is - she's going to be a rally car!!! Our Betsie!!

So here's to Betsie R.I.R. -> Rest In Reincarnation!!

So have you any cars that still leave a twinge in your heart...?

I'm still quite fond of my first car (now long gone).

A 1988 Mitsi colt GL.

No Alloys
No fog lights
No radio
No power steering
No electric windows
No reliability

But it did have great seats and was better than thumbing :D

I had a 1984 edition as my first car - rusty but reliable.

Ford Sierra Sapphire, 1990. Not the first car I owned, but the first car I was insured to drive. RWD, but that didn't really much difference as it was a 1.6, but was still cool to call it a RWD car. Over 200k on the clock, and still smooth as you like. I still remeber where I was when dad told me he was selling the car.
I still fully intend on getting as similar a car as I can when I have a house and garage and restore it to its formar glory.

6 Fiestas! Mark 1 up to Mark 4. Special place for all of them especially the Mark 1 and the 2 Mark 2's.

Had a little green Saxo as my first car... completely standard, never gave me a second's bother. Haven't seen it since I sold it... :(

Missed this post before... that electrical wholesaler in the first pic has an unfortunate name! Go Betsie!
