Cleaning the roof lining part 2

Postby Sebastian » Thu Jul 19, 2007 10:55 pm

whell it sounds funny but here it's what i've done to my car today

The fella that owned this before was a smoker so as a result , my ceiling trim was trashed. dirty , burned and after a few attempts of cleaning (from him i guess) was looking like a sheep :smt017

So .. i took it out in the morning .
take the cutting machine and started the JOB
( CJ suggested a clothes shaver - i guess that can do the job to) :smt023

Ahh! I was expecting a little more when I read the title of the post! :smt047

Seriously though - thats some good work. Was the lining difficult to remove and replace? Got me thinking that it would be cool if you could upholster the lining in a black alcantara matierial.

hmm
not so dificult ( but if you take it out a couple of times i think it would get damaged ).was thinking myself to ''change'' the material - maybe in the near future, for now i have other priority's

how to take out :
- unscrew the sun visors - 3 screws each
- take out the front side plastics
- remove the ''clothes hanger'' if you have them on the back
- let loose the top back plastic covers so you could get to the ceiling plastic screw
- trere are 6 points your ceiling trim is fixed ( in plastic holders)
-> 4 on the sides ( 2 front /2 back) , 2 inside ( gently pull the ceiling down on the back and you will see them in the posision it's circled

Image

- after the trim it's loose be carefull not to bend it and gently take it out of the

after the whole process take out - fit back you will need a vacuming ( small pieces of sponge were everywhere)

Very Nice guide Seb! :smt038

Mostlikely a project I will attempt one of the coming weekends.
For some reason I just assumed that the roof lining was glued on.

I'll be around for a short back and sides. No 7 blade, straight at the back and just on the ears.

Nice job

thanx lads. it really feels like i'm in another car .. so i recomand you do it if you have similar problems.

colm .. i didn't use nothing before cutting (shampoo / cond ) just started like it was , dirty , with 0 mm blade ( cuts exacly from the bottom)
after the full shave i used whatever shampoo of HER's

Seriously now , i used normal shampoo and loads of water ( if u have a hose or a power jet its even faster/easyer) , but i guess any clothes biological cleaner/powder bla bla would do the trick .
