Does anyone know what might be wrong with the car when I try to start it? Most times its fine, but sometimes when I turn the key, there is just a half click, as if the battery was dead. This can happen several times before I get ignition. When I get a connection, it starts up no problem. It seems to be roll of the dice kinda thing.


Goz - did you ever get this issue fixed with the inconsistent starting. I have the same problem for about 3 or 4 years now but it's getting worse, so now I have to fix it. I know for a fact that it's not the starter or solenoid as I can start the car directly with a wire directly from the starter to the battery - this works 100% of the time.

Any words of wisdom - also is it easy to get access to the ignition wiring ?

That was on the 95 GR I had. It was the solenoid causing the problem.
