Its hard to decide between the two and really depends on model.
A 22B scooby would be much more preferable to a base Evo for me.
However something like a FQ400 Evo would be head and shoulders above the STI's IMO.

No real contest on the new models though. Evo X it has to be for me.

Depends on which one really.

I'd have a new Evo over a new Scooby - but for older cars, I'd prefer an Impreza.

evo 7,8 or 9, black

whip off the naff (noi) spoiler..maybe put on a "Ducktail" type spoiler if any..

CF Doors, Bonnet and Bootlid.
Lower the bejaysus out of it, tint the windas.

Robert is your mothers brother..

I don't mind the Scoobies - Im actually rather fond of the chuggachugga sound they make when Idling - I just like the evo better - except for the spoiler..

Tough choice! Good post though.
I think I'd go with the Evo. I do like the Scooby's purr and the gurgle out of the engine, but I think the Evo's are rarer and are getting better with age, whereas the Scooby's I think made a mistake with the design of the '00 ones and the lights, and the new one while nice, is no comparison in menacing looks to the Evo X.
The newer the car the more I'm inclined to say Evo.

Yeah, I think the Impreza's have definately lost their edge in more recent times, whereas the EVO is getting better looking. If money wasn't an issue, it'd be en evo no doubt. I hear they're more expensive to run and maintain though?

That being said, I saw this video the last day, and really wanted a scooby after.

Hes outstanding, excellent vid. Lot more slow motion shots and little extras than the first one, like the pyros at the end. I would love to be able to drive like that, I'd say the kick you get would be amazing. Who is Ken Block anyway? Driving like that he should be WRC champion but I never heard of him till the gymkhana run.

:D Outstanding! Love the way they both do the 360 with the reverse bit in the warehouse, cant believe the cart pulled it off! And they really done it up well too. I must say the colour scheme of the Scooby is beautiful. Nicest I've seen on a Scooby in a while!

A 2000 classic Impreza is my next move, hopefully early in the new year. My mate that I bought the fto from has an RB5. There's an excellent club scene for the Impreza in Ireland in the guise of ScoobyIreland.com
Don't get me wrong its a tough call to make between the Impreza and Evo, if push came to shove the scoob takes my vote.

Evo all the way, always loved them. Prefer the older model though. Both have been considered as my 'car when I have kids' choice...

Has anyone looked at insurance options for either of these cars? More difficult / expensive than the FTO to insure?

Sure don't you know FTO's are 500 bhp supercars that no company will insure?!

I'm no expert on either. The desirability of the classic shape scooby is likely to be retained and even enhanced due to limited supply -i.e. they're not making them anymore and as subaru continue their quest to make the car uglier and less desirable with every sucessive incarnation. The rumble from the boxer engine is a sweet noise. But it does have one of the worst cheep plastic interiors that give Jap cars that unwanted (but justifiable) reputation. That said having breifly driven an Irish spec classic impreza I don't think I could live with one everyday -felt way too agriculural.

I guess the impreza is the same or similar but the running costs of the evo would actually scare me. Very frequent and expensive, engine and diff oil changes. Frequent and expensive clutch and flywheel changes, etc. And then there's the petrol......

Seeing some amount of these on the road. It takes the good out of owning an RS4. You might as well stick a McLaren badge on the FTO.

Also why leave the TDI badges on when you stick on the RS4 badge? Or is it back to the 80's with the more badges it has - the better it must be? Reminds me of the days when car manufacturers would put badges like "5 speed" and "air conditioning" after the make of car on the bootlid.
