<SOLD> For sale: Immaculate 1995 Mazda RX-7

Postby CJ » Wed Sep 12, 2007 9:07 pm

Its with some significant reluctance that I've decided to sell the RX-7, its a cracking car and it pains me to let it go. Selling has been on my mind for some time due to the burden of keeping 3 cars on the road, you have to move on sometime I guess. Anyway, heres the deal:

The car was imported in standard form from the UK in March 2006, Pip @ WGT (UK rotary expert) undertook a lot of maintanence work prior to purchase (with receipts). Since importing, I've made some subtle changes to the exterior and engine, otherwise the car is reasonably stock. The exterior paintwork is in excellent condition and has been well looked after. The rotar faces are showing good compression readings indicative of a rebuild in Japan (which I can't prove!). I've done 8k kms since purchasing the car 18 months ago, oil has been changed 3 times, filter and plugs once. Overall, this car has been very well looked after, no expense has been spared to ensure its upkeep. Its a serious drivers car with plenty of power on tap as and when you need it.

Details as follows:

Model: 1995 Mazda RX-7 Type R
Mileage: 74k kms
NCT: 01/09
Tax: 10/07

Engine and ancillaries:

Compression readings @ 66k (WGT)

Front - 7.75 7.75 7.75
Rear - 7.45 7.65 7.55

Compression readings @ 74k (Eddy Doyle - rotary mechanic in Bray)

Front - 7.75 7.35 7.55
Rear - 8.00 8.05 8.04 (I accept these readings may not be spot on when you consider the results @ 66k, however, test was undertaken twice with same result)

Blitz Sus air filters with custom head shield
Aftermarket exhaust, silenced mid pipe (cat replacement)
Magnecor spark plug leads fitted @ 72k kms
Oil replaced at least every 4k kms
Coolant system recently flushed and refilled @ 74k kms
Fuel filter replaced 3 months ago
Twin oil coolers as standard, pressure cap replaced @ 74k
WGT Air seperation tank
Lower turbo manifold replaced @ 66k
Rats nest and turbo pressure hoses replaced @ 66k
Rear oil seal replaced @ 67k

Power output (as of 07/07/07):

Power @ the fly: 316bhp
Power @ the wheels: 263bhp
Torque: 252 lbs/ft @ 5235rpm

Electronics:

Apexi Power FC ECU and commander, mapped and setup for 95 RON and exhaust/induction mods
Boost guage, oil temp gauge, oil pressure gauge (sender needs replacing!). JVC head unit with aftermarket Infinity (R) and Kenwood (F) speakers.

Transmission:

Standard 5-speed manual gearbox, differential replaced late last year, refilled with fully synth gear oil

Chassis and braking system:

Standard R1 springs and dampers, front and rear strut braces, 17" '99 spec rims with Michelin Pilot Sport SP2 tyres (€900!) thread 70% rear, 80% front). Rear brake pads replaced 1k kms ago, front pads 40%. Calipers painted red, ABS system fully functional. Underbody completely undersealed and in very good condition.

Exterior:

Exterior paint finish in excellent condition, ASR replica front lip, clear indicators, aftermarket parking light clusters (can be seen in last pic),'99 spec rear light cluster conversion, front and rear bumper reflecters painted to match body work, standard FD spoiler.

Alarm:

Clifford G5 with Black Jax (anti hi-jack), remote start module and built in turbo timer. Passanger central locking needs to be sorted (€90 max).

Interior:

Interior is very clean and practically standard. Black aftermarket mats purchased late last year. a/c, p/w, p/m as standard.

Price:

€12500

Wow - Absolutely fantastic example of an RX7. Having seen and driven this in the flesh and knowing the amount of care that was put into this Rex someone is going to get themselves an incredible car for the money.

The decision between selling the Rex or the FTO must have been brutal.

If I was doing smaller miles I'd sell the Zed in the morning for this car.

As an overall package, price condition, performanace it's a sweet looking package best of luck with the sale CJ :smt023

Missed this somehow... absolute beaut of a car, must be a tough decision to sell her, but I guess it all comes down to the 'bottom line' at the end of the day. Hope you find a good home for her before too long!

I've had a few calls but nothing concrete, I'm confident that the right buyer will come along at some point. Thanks for the comments WH :smt023

Car sold tonight to guy from Killarney, it was with a heavy heart that I walked away from it but I guess you gotta move on some time!

Somehow, I don't think thats the end of my turbo foray! :)

Congratulations CJ.
Bet it's mixed emotions at the moment.

Here's a pic I took of her at Japfest, looking super-shiney

Would it be rude to ask how much you got?

Bought off Carzone after a total of 1100+ views over the last month! The guy is familar with the IROC alright, I'm sure the car won't stray too much from the scene.

Must be a stab in the chest that - congrats all the same though.

So would you consider turboing the fto? Perhaps dropping a vr4 or an evo unit into it?

Its a funny feeling isn't it?

Selling the car you spent so much time on and in - and now its gone - still at least the cash can be some consolation! :P

Been there - done that! Its a lot like breakin up - only you've been two timing with the FTO and just dumped the mistress for the one you love!

Feeling better yet?

You'll wonder if she'll get serviced as regularly and meticulously as she did when you owned her. Know the feeling.
