co2 emissions

Postby karlf » Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:31 am

Does anyone know what the VRT is on a 2ltr gpx FTO. Just an idea at the minute but might try getting one imported. It would depend on how much it would cost to do this. I know since the VRT changed I'd prob be paying something outrageous, just trying to work out if it is worth it.
Doed anyone know the co2 emissions are or what tax band the FTO fits into?

FTO goes in the top VRT band, regardless of engine size, transmission type or MIVEC-ness.

€650 isn't bad, I was expecting 2000 or something like that. It would definately work out dirt cheap to import one so. Even payin the fees to the company in japan to send it, sort out de-reging it there and that it still saves a few grand.
I guess its just a matter of finding a good/reputable place to go through.

As colm said, it's in the highest band regardless (36% of OMSV). Someone here did pay about €650 recently, but I'm not sure what year car that was, and obviously the OMSV will depend on the year of the car.

If you're looking to import from Japan, CJ/Kevin have a good guide done up here.

So I read the import guide so i'd have to pay 10% import tax. Is this still the same since the guide was made? It was a while back it was posted, did it change when they changed the VRT?

Yes you'd still pay it along with 21.5% Vat on top, the reason for this is the car comes from outside of the EU, this is not a problem if you bought from the UK for example, you just pay the VRT of 36%.

Cheers dave I'm looking into that at the mo (one from uk). Works out at 750 or something around that anyway according to the VRT calculator on the revenue website. Thats on a 96 GPX with an OSMV of 3300 or so. Its not too bad considering. I just better get one before that Cowen fella decides to put it up.
