Air condition recharge for €39

Postby Temeeo » Mon Jun 02, 2014 4:21 pm

With the warm weather approaching I decided to turn my attention to air condition which wasn't working properly. At first I was going to get the can of the refrigerant and dispenser from Halfords (€44.99 + €24.99) and do it myself, then I thought that it would be good to have the system checked for leaks and stuff. Called few places and got number of quotes all above €80.

On my way to one of them I decided to drop to FirstStop/FastFit which I've forgotten to call. To my surprise they only charge €39 for air-condition service/recharge!

They even took the time and explain the print out to me at the end. If I recall correctly the machine:

1) recovered the old refrigerant and fluids from the system
2) created vacuum in the system to check for leaks
3) added new compressor oil
4) added UV dye (for leak detection)
5) filled the system with new refrigerant

Think that beats the DIY approach with cans! :D

Jaysus that's great value.I haven't had aircon since I bought the car (except of course for the old fashioned window down approach)

Window down is best, good excuse for random acceleration to input cool air...

This is great value, will have to look at getting this done. Had a guy in Tallaght top up mine a few years back only lasted 3 days. There was leak obviously and still is.
I see you had "FirstStop/FastFit" in description, are they the same company?
Think I have a FastFit in Bray - Off to call them now thanks for the info! :D

Yeah, it's the same company. I'm guessing that it's only €39 if there are no leaks, and that any repairs would be extra.

Hope the leak is small enough and in some place where it can be easily repaired! Let us know how did you get on.

I'm in same boat as OI, I've no idea whether mine works or needs a re gas, suppose I'll call over to a Fastfit as soon as I can and get it checked!
