Short shift

Postby StewyD32 » Sun Nov 27, 2011 4:56 pm

I was thinking of getting a short shift into the FTO.
Do anyone have this done, does it make much of a different, and what involved in replacing it?

Was thinking of doing this myself stewy. Looked at a few guides at looked easy enough. But would love to get some feedback off someone who has done it on a fto. Has D-dan done this to his fto??

Yeah I'm almost sure he has. I seen it on the net somewhere.

It is easy to install but every car is different with the set up.

I think you lose power with a short shift stewy. Supposed to save time on bends, but not on the straight from what i've read.

How it that Goz.

Would you not go with the assumption that the quicker you get into the next gear the less revs you loose, and therefor speed and power?

Doesn't make any sense - whats the reasoning behind this theory?

My bad. Was getting mixed up with short shifting, rather than short shifter. Short shifting is early gear change, thus losing power. Short shifter simply reduces the time used shifting gears.
