Postby Muad_dib77 » Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:03 pm

Has anybody else here done it??

They use worldpay...which is pretty confusing...I think..
I'm not sure if I've paid or not..

As long as you have an email to confirm payment, you should be fine.

Which ones did you get, are you going the pods as well as the dash?

Pity they don't do them in white, otherwise I'd get me a set. Are you sure that the 286's will fit the pod bul holders? They're a bit smaller than the dash bulbs as per my previous email.

I'm putting my trust in the lads on the UK forum.. a fair few of them seem to have gone through with the conversion.

I did notice the different in bulb since myself when I had the clock & voltmeter out to fit dial rings.. If they aren't a perfect fit I'm sure I can come up with something..afterall it's been done before...

286 is the "size" reference (I think!) & they're the ones the Uk lads say they're using for the whole sha-bang..So I'm thinking they're the ones to go for..
I'd be concious of not getting the MEGAULTRAHYPERDEATH bright ones - as they'd be likely to cause lightspots..I've simply ordered the ones specified in the UK thread.. :-)

Turns out my POP up blocker has killed a Verification screen..

so here's a hint...

If you order from Ultraleds.co.uk Kill you pop-up blocker first!

Also Robert (sales@Ultraleds.co.uk) informed me that I needed to add the international shipping to my order..

In Total including shipping it came to just under 40gbp pretty neat..

(That's for two sets and with an extra order of 5 leds per set)

I also ordered 2x501 UV leds...I have an Idea ;-) Wont tell you about it untill I've found out if it works or not .. hehehe

I sent Ultraleds an email , they say the the bulb in the following link will do the job, I asked about it being wide angled and he said the the newer version of the bulb is fronsted which achieves the same objective: http://tinyurl.com/ckk96

I'm going down this route - http://ftoaustralia.com/modules.php?nam ... hlight=led - I ordered all the led's needed (plus a few spares) last week from this guy in Australia, - http://stores.ebay.ie/warden-jp2002 - came to a total of just under €39 for the 16 led's, inclusing shipping, for the recommended replacements.

I wonder is there any way to replace the dial needles with blue versions, or modify them to shine blue?

The guide above looks pretty good, but I'll post a photo guide when I get to putting them in.

JD I've read somewhere that the orange color is just a layer of paint on the back of the needle.. Haven't had a chance to check it myself...
But If it is the case a carefull sanding should get rid of the paint ...and then you can do what you like with it :-)
