Insurance madness

After seeing MfFTO's links to some cars for MadMax
http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=3362

I went onto 123.ie to get an online quote for the 1999 S4 and I got the following quotes for comprehensive cover:

Premium Excess NCD Protection
====== ====== ============
€ 980.39 €4,000 Full
€ 990.00 € 2,000 Full
€ 1071.30 €0 to €315 Step Back
€ 1487.78 € 300 Optional

I cannot believe that - I could get comprehensive cover on a 2.7lt, bi-turbo, 290bhp S4 for 1071.30 with an excess of around €300 and step back protection on my NCD. Yet for a 1.8t TT (180 or 225) they won't quote online and Axa wanted 2k!! Madness!!!

Following on from this and the fact Axa are looking for 1900 euro to insure a 225bhp TT I decided to ring Hibernian for a quote on a TT - could not believe my ears.... 797 euro fully comp. Over half what Axa want and 100 euro less than I'm currently paying on the GTI - complete madness - so I'm gonna ring Axa now to find out what they have to say to this quote!!

These people seem to be flinging out random numbers...I'd love to know if there is any method to their madness..

I really don't know cause Axa, although very helpful when I rang, couldn't explain why they were so much higher than hibernian. Also 123.ie returned 800 euro fully comp when I got an online quote on a 225bhp TT so it looks like Axa are way off the mark.

Gonna try Tesco too.
