Safe payments debate (Started as version R spoiler on ebay)

Postby Muad_dib77 » Wed Jan 11, 2006 1:34 pm

I know a few of you have been looking for one of these.. So I thought I'd stick it up here.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 8029458558

I realise that the item is offered by a 0 feedback seller - however I see no cause for concern...

hmmm. not bad, but zero feedback seller and private feedback also. Wouldnt be bidding anything over 105.GBP or u'd lose out big time.
You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

Was just checking up on this today.

Seems the initial auction was removed - I can't tell you why...

revised listings have been posted.

http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQf ... herson2306

remember...all people are basically good..

And by all means - if you have any doubts - like IP - contact the seller prior to bidding..

Beware of this Ebayer, he has logged onto ebay as a new seller, wants you to purchase a Version R copy spoiler, take your money and hopefully it will turn up over 2 weeks later, he has 1 feedback which was a cheap cd he bought for a couple of pounds. We all know Ebay is full of crooks, he obviously doesnt have any in stock, and to corroborate this he`s even stolen my photo from a previous add where had one for sale. This is my advert on ebay, you can see the similarity

So be warned

Hey Rice :-)

Can you PM me an item number where you've used the same picture that "mcpherson" is using - Prior to his current auctions...

Then I can take the appropriate action..

It goes without say that you should always sort terms & conditions with anybody you intent to make a purchase from - Prior to making the purchase.
After reviewing the auctions I've posted it's evident to me that the new eBay member is using all "stock photos" - this could be an indication that he/she doesn't have the item in stock - or - that he/she doesn't have a digital camera.

i`ve already informed Ebay this morning, the link for my photos is in the link on my post, i`ve now put some text on it to differentiate it. He wont have it in stock, but my main point is does he have any intention on getting it in, and supplying it, as we are all well aware that once the monies gone you cant get it back easily, and there`s a lot of crooks out there i`m afraid, thats one problem with Ebay

Admin -> Perhaps we should move this thread??

If true you do need to keep your wits about you..and always use a secure method of payment.. (hence the new safe-payments policy on the ebay.co.uk site)..

Personally I try to always make payment with my Credit Card or my paypal account... With my CC I can always do a chargeback and get the monies within a week.. Paypal takes a little longer but the two times I've needed to do it they've come through for me.

Based on past experience I always contact a seller - before I make payment. In 99% of my purchases I contact sellers prior to bidding. It's just good practise and it makes sense when buying something from a person that you don't know.

hi, cc is safe however paypal is not quite as safe. If you pay someone by paypal to an account, and then they pay someone else with that money, it is much harder to get the money from paypal as they would now not have control over that money...unlesss they`ve changed heir policy
