Fto vs mirage?

Postby mivecrx » Sun Jul 07, 2013 10:16 pm

Which do you think would win a race? mirage mivec(4g92) or Fto v6 mivec?
Say from 0-120kph and 0-180kph.

And if anyone has raced a Mirage before how did you det on?

It'll be a close one on a short run, but I would be gunning for the FTO.

I hope the Fto would pull well after 100kph or there abouts.

From 0-180kph is a good long run so do ye reckon Fto would win there?

180kph is a good long run I think especially for cars that will top out at 220-230kph. After all their not super cars.

haha good man

Today im like this :D again hehe.

The FTO didn't win and to be honest even doe it stick to Mirage all the time i expected it to do way better

For the race there was the lightest set of wheels whitch are 15" 195/55 for the front and 15" 195/50 for the rear! 14.7kg each only 8)

Stripped:

All speakers front and rear

No radio at all

Whole aircondition system

Boot from unwanted stuff like the wheel cover the two shelves that in boot corners

Plastic that cover the boot lock

All floor mats

Rear parcel shelf with speaker covers

There was no belt for power steering run for the race

P/S A/C belt tensioner with its bracket was removed to

Had only half of the tank of the petrol

No strut bar front and rear

Car has cat back and ITG panel filter

Well the conclusion is that the FTO is quick but even doe it should win in higher speed range it seems to be to heavy still and the Auto box doesnt help it.

Plans:

Rid of Auto box

Use manual Mirage RS box with LSD and 4.6 final drive

Map the Neo that fitted in the car

Has to bee good then!

Is there a huge amount of difference in the auto and manual box? Even though you say it stick with the Mirage it didn't and for a 2.0lt against a 1.6lt it has to be called a terrible loss.
Tbh I was a little bit disappointed the Fto wasn't all that good because I hope to get one soon.

What do U mean by it didnt lol

Every 3 runs was the same result and it looked like this:

Third bip, u droop the clutch and being shoot out the start line about a car length (give or take a meter or two) and we both continue on holding same distance for the whole run.

No excuses for me this time, ive did what i could do this time, i still need more practice too lol

Manual to auto FTO difference:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 6lcu8RM1OA

Now imagine 4.6 final drive in it :)

Of course I got off the line better, We also did a rolling start and still ended up with a big gap between the two cars.. maybe 5 car lenghts?

Hurry up and fit the rs gearbox with 4.6fd and we go again :D

Lads, for the sake of anyone reading this you should point out that any races are done on organised drag strips or private roads.
FTO-Ireland (and ye I'm sure) do not approve of any kind of racing/speeding on public roads.

Its all in theory or if we talk about the drag races is either done in Tullow or on the private road, yes. Thanks for reminding to point this out Bernard.
Also we do not! approve any of that behavior on the public roads.

Yes as ive said all the runs were win by the Mirage but i wouldnt say it was that big gap between em. Whats more i would even say the round when both were rolling was the closest one i think. Ah thats not matter anyway, the main point what has been proven here is that the 2.0L Mivec with tiptronic isnt faster than 1.6 Mirage RS, i think i'll try another 4g92 in Mirage Asti before i'll have FTO converted to manual box. If that wont work maybe 4g92 FTO? Surely it will be cheaper to tax it then :)

Also i want to focus on 1.3 turbo project finally to finish it off!

Of course we only race on private roads or drag strips, NO street racing approved here!

Yeah the Fto was a good bit behind but I think a manual would make up some good ground, I'm still getting an Fto though:) the looks and sound is hard beat.

You should try rs box on the v6 first and if that's no good build a turbo Fto!

Did U ever read what says on the mirror:

Objects seen in the rear view mirror can be closser than it seems

Lol, U should start building project Yourself to, no effort boy

The builds list is as follow:

1.3 4g13 (priority)

4g92 Mivec black top engine fitted to my RXvR and fix it up (or it will be scrapped/sold)

4g92 Mivec turbo build with GSR pistons all else stock

Auto to manual FTO conversion (either of FTO's but rather the silver one)

Mirage Asti RS with V6 conversion (this could be same time subject as the one above only fitted to Asti instead of an FTO)

Builds that im considering:

4g13 Turbo FTO (seriously :smt003 )

4g92 Mivec version R engine and cams FTO

Looking at you in the mirror and on the video it looks the same hahaha

I might start a project soon just going to collect a few bits for it first.

So what we know so far is manual Mirage mivec beats auto Fto mivec.

Yeah the mirage has no back seats but a has a full paded roll cage.

I think maybe a manual fto will make for a very close race even tho we done both stop and rolling start with the auto, I would like to race a manual Fto mivec with my mirage if anyone wants too?
