Nice looking retro BM - however make sure you drive it first and are comfortable with how it "performs" (or not). Vehicle dynamics have come a looong way since these roamed the earth.

I realise it won't be a modern car, it still should handle quite tidily for a classic though.

Wowza, not being a classic car fan it would do nothing for me. But nevertheless I hope you find something you enjoy!

Can't question your taste Shane, I looked at and considered all those cars (every one of them) , bar the last few ones of course, the Volvo is stunning,

I decided to go for something with a big engine, manual gearbox, German, and qualify for classic tax. The Mercs are nice, just prefer the idea of the BM.
The Six is a little under budget, but that's hardly a reason not to buy it. I would be doing some upgrades to it anyway.

The 280ce is a contender too, even though it's auto.(the only way to have a Merc)

Went to see this one today, am 90% of the way into getting it, will collect it later in the week as soon as my mechanic has a gander.
It drives very very well for such an old car, there's lots of torque and the engine's silky smooth. It's also the high compression model with fuel injection,
it would've been the top of the range at the time, the interior's in great nick, and all the buttons work!
Bodywork is very good too, few chips gone off the front wing, and minor rust here and there, no more than you'd expect.
It's on non original 16" alloys at the minute (originals were 14 will need spacers on them) and there's a CD player fitted. other than that it's standard.

I like it Colm - something different that will turn heads. Looking forward to seeing it at a future FTO meet!
