sounds odd. who are you insured with. Quinn direct would want €150 extra for tinted windows or bigger wheels. what bhp are you declaring?

Something wrong there. No way in hell any insurance company is going to only charge 150 extra for the amount of modification you are doing, not to mention the fact the you have a non standard engine.
exactly what have you declared to them.

Putting in turbo alone would make a major difference in a claim wouldnt it? Its more or less the same as an engine transplant?

i didnt get a referance but once i get a garage to say the work was done in house and u to scratch.

Theres 50 quid excess for me to swap from the fto to a evo 5.

im with Eagle star, but yu need to watch the PTW ratio. this is a price i was given from an underwriter but I would imaine them changing their mind when it comes to insuring it.

So the cars booked in to be remapped at the end of the month and all the work to be deu for completion 2nd or 3rd week in Jan.

Getting mt timing belt, fan belt, water pump changed and said.

Lets put myself under huge pressure and decompress the head before we even finish the turbo work whie the belts are off.

Heres the thing loads of the companies I need to get parts are off. so im looking to see if anyone can help me with the following?

i want to get a 1.5mm gasket
or 1.2-1.3mm shimless gasket (alloy)
Vernier/ adjustable cam gears and
hed studs.
heres the thing i need everything by mid jan and rpw so i hear dont open till the middle of jan.

I was just going to suggest RPW as I've had some dealings with them in the past but I reckon you'll be doing well to get them in before the middle of January!!

Ok time for a little update.

Im reducing the compresson down to 9:1 from 10:1
this will offer a safer setup and allow me to run more boost.

I was going to run 8:5 but it turns out that this would have been too low a compression for a 2l engine.

In regards to the decompression plate im using its a Aluminium shim plate that is to be fitted ontop of a standard 0.9mm head gasket.
I went for the possably weaker MLG (multi layered shim) setup which leaves 4 faces of possable compression leakage than the standard 2 faces.but with this I feel this is a be a good ideas as in worst case scanario where the engine is about to blow/ bend conrods etc. the pressure building out will abtually blow out the decompression gasket first saving me there big time. as rather than the whole bottem end being destroyied its only a case of rescimming the head and new head gaskets

Vernier cam Gears are being machined for the setup as the increase heigh of 1.1mm will throw off the timing. probably be good as it would retard the timing but at the same time i dont want to leave it up to slightly the fact that I want to be able to control and set everything up perfectly.

With more research into fuling iv found that in underestemated the pressure and amount of fuel that will be in the lines and iv got a fuel pump smaller than what i feel is requiered. (as i said before everytrhign it to run safe so what im doing is if anything is peing pushed to the max um upgrading to bigger parts that wont be so pushed) so a walbo 255 LPH pump needs to be ordered.

By doing this ill have completed stages 1 and 2 of my 3 stage plan.
the setup will be able to take 1bar boost. but I dont think that internals will so im going to be safe ad set a MAX of 0.8 bar.

Originally i was looking at setting my self an achievable target of 240BHP running 0.35 bar but now with the extra work done and running about 0.65- 0.7 bar im looking for close on 260BHP

Wish me luck and more updates to follow

Looks like you're doing your homework dan, very important considering the work you're looking to undertake. Are you upgrading injectors, if so, what model?

Note that the rotary lads don't rate the Walbro 255L pump at all (and a good few of them have uprated fueling in place). Most go the Bosch equivalent which are meant to be more reliable.

I have 2 sets the ones that came with the kit were from the 1989-81 rx7 which were 460cc (part number is 195500-2010)
but i also have and will be using "Pink" Injectors from a STI which are 510cc

Lot of research Dan, fair play, looks like you have it all well planned and worked out. Is it a lot of work for an extra 60 bhp? Or is the stage 3 you´re talking about a turbo upgrade to a higher boost?

the 3rd stage is to get forged internals and start looking into cam shafts and so on squezing extra power from the mivec along with the turbo and fine weaking managment.
Will be looking to go higher up into the rev range looking for about 9000 RPM would be cool, but i recon the block itself wont take more than 1.2 bar of boost.

@ colm no he didnt have all this done. he had the same setup as Mr. Bishi and LiL red. which is jsut a basic turbo conversion and leaving it with low boost. 5psi is nothing really with a turbo conversion.
I said sure with the money spent doing the conversion and buying bits and pieces that I may as well do it right first time round and get it all done propper and for max POWER and RELIABILITY.
Also I didnt recieve everything needed to turbo the car there were a few parts missing that needed to be scourced or made.

Was talking to some of the lads who know their stuff in hte UK and AUZ and they recon if it works out the way i have planned it will be the most powerfull one(6a12) they have seen on the sites

I sent a whole min looking into them maud.... wouldnt bother.
unless you have them on a Highly tuned car I wouldnt bother and Id say you would loos\e big power from them on the FTO as the position of the intake mani on the v6 would probably just Soak up all the head in the Engine bay.

Ill be up at the first date That comes up from feb.
