looking to tart up your interior?

Postby Muad_dib77 » Mon Jan 02, 2006 4:01 pm

Want to do something with your ride this month?

A bit skint after xmas?

Looking for a project that isn't a world of pain?

Seen those "dash trim" kits on eBay going for ONE MILLION DOLLARS?

Dont be fooled by the evil doers out to score your hard earned cash..
there is a cheaper way...

Vinyl Film (Similar to the stuff used in most Dash trim kits).

I found this American seller that does the films.. Shipping is 5usd - which is pretty cheap.
The Films aren't a ripoff either...Check it out..

Hows that for a neat little project?

You can even remove the bits of interior from you car - and apply the film in the comfort of your own home..

..None of this sitting outside in the cold madness...

EDIT: Here's an example of the dash kit thing..

Also you could use this as for ideas on parts to wrap.

Looks like a good inexpensive way to transform your dash or any other part for that matter, the pic looks like a project CJ did a few weeks back.
looks cool IMO, may think about doing the clocks but thats about it for me,in saying that looks a whole lot better than the silver sprayed look to consoles and gear surrounds TACKY but thats just MO no disrespect to anyone.

Just a quick update on this..

Today I took delivery of a pile of this Vinyl and it looks gorgeous! Can't wait to stick it on..

Hopefully it'll be a nice and easy little project to do after I've retrimmed the drivers seat!

Pictures will follow.

Me neither - I'm sure a glued on piece of vinyl looks much better than a properly sprayed center consol.

I'd be interested to see this kit on - I fitted something similar to my old GR and it was so crap looking that I took it off straight away - it jut didn't fit properly and looked really cheap and stuck on.... maybe this kit will look better....

I have one of those kits on my GR now, put it on about a year ago and it looks great, it just brightens up the dull black, I got one of the wood effect ones, it came over from the States and it is very good quality, I've had numerous people comment on it. The guy that replaced the windscreen asked if it was special edition FTO!, he'd done a few FTO's and hadn't seen it before. I'd certainly recommend the look I have (I think it's a red cherry) from wherever I got it. Pics don't do it justice, but you can have alook at the next meet.

I for one am not a fan of plastic wood effect interiors (stick on or not) but thats just me, others may think it looks the part! I would like to get a look at it at some stage, some of the stick on kits I've seen in the past were quite cheap looking, did you get it off ebay JD?

the first part the other day sitting at my desk in work...

very quick and very dirty... I'll redo it - once I get some more time..reason being there's some excess material in the corners - and I dunno., I'd just like it to be as smooth as possible..
Also the eagled eyed amongst you will notice there's a bit of material lifting the the door-lock mechanism hole - I sorted that post-picture-taking..just a matter of applying a bit of heat..

just thought I'd show you...and leave you to form your own opinions..
