Well-minded Undersealed FTO GPX MIVEC '97 with extras [SOLD]

Postby Bartpabicz » Fri Aug 12, 2011 7:57 pm

Hello everyone,

I was afraid that this moment may come, but it came sooner than I expected - I decided to sell my Mivec which I bought not too long ago from Miss-Enzo. In my struggle to bring the car to top shape I went over my budget and as it seems I will be in need of hard cash - my partner and I are starting a business sooner than I expected and I will have to part ways with this beauty. The price tag on it is 3150, it's up on DoneDeal already:

http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2431434

Car spec:

Mitsubishi FTO GPX V6, 24V, 1990 ccm, Facelift model
Year 1997
Manual 5 gear transmission
Mileage: 151.700 km

Car has just passed NCT, with no re-test.

NCT 12/12
TAX 09/11

I have put considerable amount of both work and money to bring it to top condition, and then I did few more bits just to improve the looks :D Rocker cover gaskets, steering rack, suspension, tracking, custom lighting, detail painting, generally speaking car is stunning to look at AND drive - mechanically car is in excellent condition. Most importantly however the undersealing is done on the car, so the rust is not going to be a problem for a good couple of years. Below there's a list of extras installed on the car:

ENKEI 17" Alloys (Gunmetal grey)
Carbon hood and two interior panels
Apexi RSM
HID lights
Lowered on TEIN springs
KYB gas shocks
New brake discs and pads
2x Strut brace
ITG Induction kit
Blueflame exhaust/decat (catalyst included)
Custom interior lighting (LED red)
INDIGLOW dials
7" DVD Player

Timing belt and water pump has been changed at 110.000 km.

Any test is more than welcome - just call me so we can arrange viewing (I'm based in Cork City).

For those who don't know me, the name is Bart and you can call me on 0851209623 pretty much any time. Below you can find a link to the pics album:

Thanks!

EDIT: Here are some promised photos (Can't post full-sized ones as they're being clipped in half):

I thought I'd put some pictures up in this thread, just to make it a bit more appealing/mouth-watering/envy-generating etc. ;) They're in the first post, and just a few of them (don't want to make this thread unreadable)- for more still please visit this link:

Thanks.

Oh, by the way, I dropped the price to 2950, I may go a bit lower for the Club Members. See you around.

hi everyone again. Since I'm such a nice guy I decided to drop the price a bit  My business venture didn't reach fruition after all and the financial pressure is off my chest. Still, I'd be looking forward to upgarding my riding experience, so this red beauty is still up for sale.

There are some nice mods on that FTO. I reckon you'd do better selling these separately on the forum and selling the FTO on closer to stock. Oh and loose the night time interior shots (red lighting?) on the done deal ad - it gives the wrong impression of what is a lovely car.

now that's an interesting thought. Both of them actually - I was dead certain I am making my car more appealing by installing red lighting  Anyone else sharing this point of view?
As for the mods, I'll definately look into that. Thanks mate!

Depends upon your target market and of course their ability to get insured. Someone <25 may love the seedy Amsterdam red light look, an older owner may not. Ditto goes for the black bonnet, spoiler etc.

That's... well, I'm surprised to say the least. Maybe it's due to the fact that I got used to driving it so much I don't pay any attention to it's 'flashiness' anymore. Either way, just to be on the safe side I removed the night-time photos from both ads.

It might look nice at night, but its typical of the Fast & Furious era, (I was guilty of considering interior lights on mine too back in the day), again it depends on the target market, but bear in mind that the younger generation are more prone to go for that look, but they are also the ones who are more at risk with not getting insurance.

Some good points there,
Sold mine close to standard and then all the upgrades separatelly .
In the end got what I was expecting.

There are some downsides also . You get the money in time not all at once , the parts you sell have to be cheaper then elswere , you have to have the standard bits to replace the upgrades, takes time to swap the bits around and so on.

That's a cracking looking FTO , If I was in the market for one . . . If . .

hard not to agree with all of you guys. I'll keep the custom interior lighting off the pictures in the future as I'd really prefer for the car to go into good hands, and age usually goes along with responsibility (or that's what I was taught anyway  ). I will follow mfFTO's advice and offer all the extras on the car separately, preferably for a swap+cash. I'll set a separate topic up for the extras. I might end up having to respray a part or two to avoid making it hideous after swaps, but I'd be willing to go that extra mile to keep it beautiful. By the way, in your opinion which standard/non-standard FTO colour would go well with Audi's Laser Red, which I have on my car? I mean on the hood and spoiler, and perhaps alloys. In the meantime thank you for all the replies - and keeping my spirits up!

Hi again. Just to let you know I just installed the rear set of brake discs and pads, so all discs and pads are fresh from the box.

Also, just three days ago the car passed NCT and not even a single thing was wrong with it, so... well, happy days :)

well, it seems FTO's are harder to sell than I thought. Not even a single phone call in three months - I'm fortunate not to be stuck for money, otherwise I might end up selling it for half what I'm asking now!

She is a nice example, so don't drop too much. I think the high insurance is a major off-put for people. tbh, I reckon she would sell faster with a matching red bonnet, but that's just my opinion. Would take the boy racer look from it. The spoiler too....but everything else should be kept in place. If I get rammed again, I might end up calling you for a sale. 2k I think would be more realistic though to be seeking in this market. Waiting may pay off however, especially if you're not in a rush to sell.

I may be mistaken but I thought you were only selling her as you needed money for a business venture. You said that didn't come off and you were still stuck.
Why sell her if your not stuck

Stewy it's true that my venture didn't go as planned and I don't need cash as such, but as I stated before, I'm still looking forward to upgrading my driving experience and thus I decided to change FTO to something more powerful. I'm eyeing Nissan 350z and Audi TT at the moment.

An Audi TT won't be any quicker than a manual GPX tbh. They don't drive anything like a sports car should.
A 350Z will certainly be quicker and will feel a lot more lairy than a TT to drive.

I'd have to disagree about the TT, a 225 would be quicker point to point. Even a on a 180 you can carry a lot more speed into bends. I'd have serious reservations about haldex being serviced properly on them though.

have to disagree with colm on the tt,gpx eats the 225 in a straight line and the weight of the tt makes it less nimble on its feet,a quattro tt holds about 300kg on the fto
