You reckon?
How about the €614 we have to pay for road tax

Or the €1500 + in road tax for a pre July 08 350Z (2K thereafter)?
Ireland is not a good place to own a performance car - full stop.

Thats absolutely gas, I've been following this to see what someone who is close to my age would put up so I could compare, mcgons stats are not too far of my own apart from one or 2 small adjustments, but look at the difference in price.
Here are mine,

Model\Year: 97 GPX (His is GPvR so doubt thats any difference)
Age: 29
License Type: Full 10 yrs
Cover Type: Fully Comp
NCB: 3 yrs
Insurer: Quinn
Policy amount: 704

Mine is insured in Cork city so that shouldnt be a major difference due to location either you'd think!

yeah, my initial quotes was over 1300euro (from 860 last year) for no good reason except the market etc. Got the ombudsman involved and got it back. but it just proves they pull the figures from the air.

I wouldn't haggle to be with quinn, I did quite the opposite with 18 different insurers with no luck.

As soon as someone accepts me I'm gone, whether I have to pay more or not.

Shower of fiddling :!: the lot of them.

So which insurance companies do you deal with? the ones that don't accept you? I don't get it :smt102

You don't just go with the cheapest like-for-like quote?

Mines gone up this year because of a claim for the theft of the GS. Its €850 for TPFT with protected NCB with quinn. My insurance is due on 16th Oct. so I'm ringing around trying to get lower but no luck. Other than brookers offering higher quotes with quinn I cant get a quote off anyone. The usual answer is "Oh we dont insure performance cars". Thats a load of crap judging by the companies you guys are insured with, I've been turned down by them all.
Just a warning for you all, I assumed that because I had a protected NCB that the claim for the stolen car wouldn't affect my insurance. I was wrong, thats what I get for assuming. As they say you should never assume, because when you assume you make an ass out of you and me.
They load your premium for a claim/crash and you still keep your full NCB. It just means you get a 50% reduction on a higher premium. I wasn't impressed.

My details are:

Age:28
Full liceince 7 years
NCB 7 years
TPFT
Quinn Direct (if I can get a lower quote before Oct 16th I'm off)

If your insured with quinn go on line and do up a quote dont just settle for their renewal offer. For the last 3 or 4 years my renewal was higher than doing out a new quote on-line. When I questioned it they gave some speel about 15% off for being an on line customer and insurance rates change daily. It happened again this year but their online discount is only 5% now so it shouldn't make that much of a differece.

Probably an obvious question but did you try 123.ie? I got a very favourable quote off them from my TT after Hibernian increased it by 240 euro.

Too much for an FTO - turbo or otherwise.
Having said that - 10 years ago I was paying 3,500 old Irish Punts for a GR FTO.

Nowadays my Supercharged Zed is around a grand to insure - The Range Rover Sport was just around €430 or so (all fully comp).

Guess theres some advantage to being (almost) over the hill.

Yes - Although I just paid a couple of hundred onto my RRS insurance policy so I don't actually know what the exact cost is untill I renew my insurance in November. I still have to call into the broker to go through all the details.

As a matter of interest - who insured the Zed for you when you had it?

I was insured with AXA, had a good few favours pulled though to get it cover, cost me about 1100 with protected bonus and a few other benefits... Did have to go through massive detail with them, but I have heard that some may look for an engineer's report and dyno sheets etc! Hopefully it won't be too much bother come renewal!

Dont think so, think I remember Dan quoting over the 5K mark with all mods declared when he was first looking into it.

OT but when you say 10 years ago Shane did you have an almost brand new FTO so? Who had the first FTO in the country? Kace? (Cause of the sig I'm guessing)
