Nope haven't bought anything yet - but just borrowed my folks Volvo s80 for the weekend cause I'm off to a wedding in Cork. It's the 2.0T with nice leather interior. Man that car doesn't handle great - no fun to drive on the twisties.... but what it loses in outright driving pleasure it really does make up for in comfort. I find myself driving slower everywhere and actually (in a strange way) enjoying it.

Not sure I could live with it though so no, before you ask, I ain't gonna go down this large barge route ;-) Been going round in circles last few weeks - golf gti, a4 1.8t, tt, leon cupraR (that was some car), bmw 520i etc., etc. TT's are too expensive for what you get (high milage, crap wheels and mediocre handling), bmw 520 & A4 1.8t are nice but very expensive if you want extras, leon cupraR was amazing but too expensive (€32K). Right now the gti is the front runner cause it's a good blend of price (working on a sweet deal), comfort and performance - plus it's got a very tunable engine.

at the moment it looks like it will be a GTI - still waiting on a particular car and assuming it comes in at the quoted price I'll probably bite the sellers arm off.

hehe, that was pretty quick -

yea I did think along these lines at one stage but the idea of spending €20K on a 7 year old car that wouldn't be that easy to sell on didn't sit well with me. Anyway I kinda want my next car to be something I will be able to trade no problems cause over next 2 years I'd like to get my hands on something along the lines of a porsche boxster or an early 90's 911
