[EVENT] Rising Sun Japanese Car Show, [9/10th May 2009]

Postby colm_mcm » Tue Dec 30, 2008 8:57 pm

2009 marks the 40th birthday of the Galant FTO, and the 15th birthday of the more modern FTO.

To mark this occasion, a joint meet with Irish and UK FTO drivers is planned for Friday 8th, Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th May 2009.

Venue - Lincolnshire Showground, a 205-acre multi-purpose event facility in the heart of rural Lincolnshire.

http://www.risingsuncarshow.co.uk/

This is basically the Electric Picnic of car shows, you'll be camping, it's a 2 day event. and it will involve quite a bit of driving. The event gets bigger and better every year, and attendance by the ftooc is planned to be 20-25 cars.

Route here:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr ... F8&t=h&z=7

I'm told it's one hell of a driving road.

This will be one of the most demanding, but also promises to be one of the best FTO meets you'll ever attend.

Don't put your names down yet, have a think about it and raise any questions you may have.

Ah, the money... the entrance fee isn't anything substantial, the main expense will be the ferry over and back, and however much petrol you can guzzle in a 500 odd mile return journey from Dublin.

Accomodation will be camping, so no real expense there.

This is great guys!! :D

If you want to have more info about the drive, I'm pretty sure there'll be videos in YouTube if you search for Snake Pass.

TBH colm i cant really give a definate answer till I see ferry times/days. Im taking a few days off work around then as it is so wont be that easy for me to give you a straight answer. Consider this a provision 'yes', ferry times depending.

get the ferry the night before we need to go and we can take our time and stop for lunch from time to time. not to mention taking account for delays. Bring a duvet in case and nap in the car even if needs be

I'm only paying £59. I'm booking return flights as well just in case I' dont buy it, only €33 extra for the flight home. Aer lingus also have a sale both fights €1.99 and just taxes on top, less than €60 altogether.I meant that anyone thinking of heading over to the meet should check to see how long the offer is running. They might save a few quid. Maybe seb could try get a group discount

Hi guys and girls,

An update on this event, I have already booked the stand for this show for the FTOOC and that includes you too!!

Weekend tickets with stand pass are now available through the FTOOC club shop!!!!

http://ftooc.org/clubshop/index.php?act ... ductId=245

Cut off date for purchasing tickets will be 20th April. Children under 14 go free.
When you order, please add in the comments box, FTO Ireland and your user name so we know who's who :D

There will be BBQs provided for Saturday night, so you only need to take whatever you want to cook on them. We'll also have some prizes for a couple of stand competitions 8)
If you have any ideas for activities, just let me know to coordinate but as long as it's family safe everything goes :D

I just updated the post in the OC today!
The cut off date to get the tickets from the shop to be at the stand is 20th April.
The stand is booked but I need to confirm final numbers with the organiser and have time to post tickets safely in advance.

How do we get the tickets Grace? Do we need to have an account ot be able to purchase them or does the club shop let us finalize the transaction even if we're not signed up?

oh sorry, forgot to explain about that
You just need to create an account for the shop (it has nothing to do with the proper FTOOC membership) and then you can purchase tickets or whatever you want from it.

You can group if you want, as you'll be coming together, might make it easier on postage as all the tickets will be sent during the last week of April.
