Clean Rex

I spent way too much time cleaning the Rex's paintwork today, the surface was badly in need of deswirling, so I did the full shebang - wash, rinse, dry, claybar, wash, rince, dry, deswirl, buff, polish, buff, seal, buff, wax and finally buff for the last bleedin' time! The rain didn 't do me any favours either Anyway, heres the result, check out the reflection in the drivers door

You really can't beat a black car when its paintwork is as polished as that.
Looks really well though I suspect the neighbours must think you slightly mad to spend what must have been the best part of a day to get the REX to that condition.

Hope the FTO (& the missus) isn't getting jealous

Its hard dividing your time between a wife and two cars but I do try and strike a balance (herself will probably completely disagree here!). The FTO still gets the attention it deserves!

This is a bit of an old post alright, but CJ, did you do up a post on how you did this? My yoke is black and there are a few swirls I wouldn't mind sorting out!!

deswirl, buff, polish, buff, seal, buff, wax and finally buff for the last bleedin' time!

The only addition to the above list is the fact that I used a random orbital polisher for deswirling, polishing and buffing (it takes a lot of pain out of the process and makes for a fantastic finish). Search the forum for 'Porter Cable'. The deswirling compound is rougher than standard polish, I'd recommend the Poorboys SSR 2.5 product, you should be able to pick up a bootle on ebay. If you've got tar/bug build up etc, definetely. Funny as it sounds, stick your hand in a cellophane (clear) bag and run it over clean paintwork, if there are imperfections in the surface, they will be more apparent using with this method.
