NCT Tomorrow, probable fail (Failed but not as expected)

Postby Uncle B » Thu Jan 12, 2012 11:51 pm

Have the NCT tomorrow after a long long absence. Not feeling too confident though I'm afraid.

Main reason being my KMC dials have decided to stop working entirely. It used to be an intermittent issue so I reckon its a loose connection but it means delving behind the dash board (as that's where the transformer is) which is a big enough job. Unfortunately the test is for 19:30 so it will be a very obvious fault. Would have been fine with a daytime test...
Its just the dials so all my ignition lights etc. work grand, hoping for a lenient tester tbh.

Have a small amount of corrosion on my brake lines too but they were "touched" up so may do the job.

Everything else seems ok but we'll see what happens, luck of the draw in some cases.

Well the results are in...

Failed as expected but not on lighting as I thought.
I need two front wishbone bushes replaced, so nothing major thank god, pretty pleased in fact!

Did they deem a noise test necessary?

Apparently not (I wasn't present for the test though, but I assume it would be documented? Or maybe just put down as an aural defect?)
It doesn't seem excessively loud in any case, so I guess they let it through.

Pretty good news actually. Easy enough fix. Hate the Nct anyway. Those wish bones are probably perfect.

Yea not the worst at all. Ordered a new set of front and rear lower arm poly bushes so should be sorted.
Just checked the mileage recorded on the last NCT - It's only done 3,000 KM since...

Yep it's going up to €55 soon and will have to be done every year of course. Nice money spinner there.

I'll have to deal with the dials at some point but not right now!
