Due for renewal

Postby optical illusion » Tue Jan 10, 2012 2:39 pm

26/F/4 NCB/Full licence/No points etc

Some were nice enough to tell me straight out no, before going through everything. Others remember me from name last year

So to anyone thinking of getting an FTO:

AXA: Full NCB and 30+
123.ie: Can't find that model on our system and couldn't last year (so maybe update it?)
Arachas: Awaiting call back
Getcover.ie: Class of vehicle
Zurich: Decline list
Aviva: Decline list
Allianz: Decline list
Aon/Insure.ie: No imports
Easyquote: Awaiting call back
25plus: Class of vehicle
Britton: Awaiting call back but induction kits are a big no no
Don Reddan: Class of vehicle
O Malley Griffin: Awaiting call back
Setanta/Piba: Class of vehicle
RSA: Make of vehicle
Wexford: Awaiting call back
Glennons: No

Fcuking withered is an understatement. I don't think I'll even bother ringing around next year tbh.

Yep, their a bit slow. They count the bonnet, boot and glove box as doors. Anything on hinges really.

Does that not null and void your policy? You are insuring a 5 door, but driving a 3 door. The error should atleast be noted on your policy.

She said she'd make a note off it on the file. I thought they would of wanted to have seen the log book but nope.
Just on a side note, theres a place in harolds cross (dont know the name) that have a huge poster in their window saying "cant get insurance? we'll insure you!". A friend said they specialise in people that hav been done for drink driving in th past and that they are usually the best of a bad bunch for insurance (hes currently serving the last 2 months of a ban) Would'nt hurt if someone is down that way to check it out for the younger members who are getting quotes of 2500+

I suppose if it's noted, it's ok, but I would want it in writing, just in case anything ever happened. Too often does some eijet end up in the the ar$e end of an fto. If it happens to me again, I won't be held responsible for what I will do to the person driving. I'm still waiting to be paid damages for my previous fto that was rear ended. Happened 3 months ago and the sum was settled 2 months ago. I contacted the solicitor about it last week, who agreed it was a long time, but nothing happening still.

Driving a 2 door I think you mean? The boot isn't accessible from the back seat so as far as I know?

Not easily accessible, but when you pull the back rest down, there is just a black liner, which can be removed, giving access to the boot. But yes, I did mean to say 2 door.

They couldn't find GPVR on their system, only GPX and GX.

Therefore just because they can't find it they won't quote.

Only if you have another car...then classic insurance is circa €300 with campion insurance on the fto.

I've sat down and did the maths and running 2 cars would be too expensive, I'm trying to save money!

How much more expensive?

Keep in mind, the other car only needs to be taxed if you plan to drive it. same goes for an nct. It does need to be in your name and insured by you to qualify for classic insurance though. It's slightly grey, but perfectly legal.

To answer your original question; my list is maybe worth looking at. You need to remember that your insurance is due to go up anyway though. No more cheaper insurance for girls.

no, as in it refused to quote me and I am over 30. Maybe you need full NCB or something. It quotes me on a civic for 650 with a excess of 300.

I have full NCB. Could be a Dublin thing? Good to know that they quoted online anyway to Colm. It gives hope. It's just Britton insurance though.
