Well I'm definite about the karting. About what time of the day are we talking about here, late morning early afternoon? I assume the karting would only take about an 1hr maybe 1 1/2hrs?
On the basis that everyone signed up so far is male (although you never know when you're dealing with people on the net :? ) and are going to drag their girl friends, wives along. Are you including the ladies in the karting? Speaking for Mrs Mustang, not sure that she would be too pushed about the karting, and or hanging around all afternoon (in rural Ireland) until it's time to go out boozing. Do you have a plan MfFTO?

Ladies can Kart if they want but IMO the less "mobile chicanes" the better.

The Karting takes about 2 hours - there are some facilities there and there is a cosy rural pub that does nice toasties about 2 mins drive from the circuit - hope to have the Karting over by early afternoon and the rest of the day will be taken up with the short trip to Kinvarra - settling into B&B if neccessary and off for a bit of grub and maybe a shandy - this isn't a shopping trip I'm afraid so please dispell all notions of such before you embark on the trip.

However I agree.

OK - The story for Sat 2nd April is - we can have the track from 1000 to 1200 for a morning GP or from 1530 -1730 for an evening GP.

Any preferences / comments :?:

My preference would be for evening. This would tie in nicely with heading out that night, also allows for a lie in Sat morning
I'm inclined to think that the morning meet is too early, would be finished way too early and would leave the whole afternoon free with not much to do only kick tyres......that's a lot of tyre kicking :!: Which I do not think the majority of the ladies (or the lads if it went on for that long) would appreciate. I assume we would all be heading out for dinner that evening, in which case it would not be until around 7pm at the earliest.

it'd be an early start for those coming from the pale (i am actually outside the pale) so if there's a session afterwards, i reckon mid afternoon would be better!

ALrighty then -

April 2nd / 1530 start is now booked.
We should meet up about 1500 to get suited up / forms signed etc

Race runs as follows: (Presuming approx 16 drivers.)

Pre-race briefing followed by a practice session
Four standard heats
Semi final heats
Grand Final

€50 per driver - thats pretty good value when you consider the amount of driving you'll be doing.

Guys,

Can we have a definitive Head-Count on this one - I want to know if I have to add a couple of petrol head mates to make up the numbers (need 12-15) for Grand Prix.

Does anyone want me to book a couple of rooms in Kinvara for the night of 2nd April? I'm on for a session if ye are!

1: MfFTO
2: PajEvo
3: Speedyboy (If you dont mind my aul primera coupe)*provisionally
4: Mustang
5: CJ (assuming I get the jammer fixed up by then) - overnighter
6: Kev
7: Dave (any excuse for a session - overnighter!!)
8. Nigel (overnighter)

I'm a definite for the karting. If we are overnighting then count me in too.
MfFTO are you talking about B&B's? Perhaps an FTO Ireland group discount would be in order?

Sure is - It better be cause I've put a deposit of €200 on the karting track.
I've also got a mate in Kinvara (who owns a pub there) to check out the best available rates in the Hotel in the town. I take it from the list that we need 5 rooms??

I won't be doing an overnighter, assuming I make it at all. My weekends are getting eaten up, I was in Pittsburgh for the weekend 2 weeks ago, on call 2 weeks before that, on call last weekend, and they have me listed as being on call this weekend again.

Hopefully getting out of this weekend but dunno when I'll be on again...

@MfFTOAny chance of a lock in? 8) Is Paj evo overnighting?
@ CJ how are the repairs coming along? Do you think you make it to this meet? Following on from that, do you think Nigel will be going, in the event that you cant make it?

No prob with a lock in - Pubs don't really close there anyway and we'll have a residents bar in the hotel as well. Kinvara is a nice touristy spot beside the sea a short spin from Galway or the Karting track.

PajEvo + missus will probably overnight as well.

Speedyboy - if numbers are getting tight you may want to bring along a couple of locals to make up the numbers for the grand prix as well.

I hope to everything completed at that stage, I'll have the wing on this weekend, the bumpers ready to go, the only thing I'm missing is the mesh, if the worst comes to the worst, I'll throw the bumper on without it and sort it out later.

On the accomadation front, would we not be better off staying in the Galway town for a night out? Just putting it out there for discussion...

Myself and Nigel are still on for it anyway.

Good to hear the car is coming on well - looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

With regard to the accomadation - It really depends on whether you want to hit a Nightclub etc - I thought it might be an idea for you Dublin Heads to get a bit of West of Ireland Culture into ye - nice rural pubs - some Diddly Idle Dee music and a turf fire.

If the majority would prefer Galway - this can be arranged - no problem - but I'd also imagine the accomodation will be more expensive. I'll be back with some pricing later on today for Kinvara - we can make up our minds at that stage.

I'm not too pushed either way, it was 'Whest of Ireland Nigel' who suggested the city to me ;) Anyway, if I wanted a bit of culture and some fiddle music sure wouldn't I just head into Temple Bar?

I'm more than happy to head to Kinvara for the night, especially if I can get a pint at 4 bells in the morning!

Ohh Go on then ! Sure we'll make room for a fellow FTO owner and forum member

Theres heaps of room we need to have at least 12 - theres no real upward limit - plenty of karts and plenty of room on the track.

Are you going to overnight Zacob??

OK guys this is who we have so far.
I have booked 4 rooms - 3 doubles and 1 twin for the moment at http://www.merrimanhotel.com
€50 B&B per person sharing.
I can book further rooms as we need them.
Can ye confirm who def is taking the rooms as soon as possible so I can finalise with the hotel.

The Hotel is on the main street in Kinvara so we won't have far to fall after a night on the town (well -village anyway).
