Postby steelroe » Wed May 28, 2008 1:43 pm

Guys a friend of mine asked me to copy 2 DVD's for him (car components catalogue). When I went to copy it the brn software asked for a blank DVD DL.

1 What is this
2. Will my DVD R/RW allow me to copy it.

Hey Rory, a DL sic is a double layer disc. It has the capacity of 2 x normal dvds. I think you need a special DL drive to write one too. You can buy blank DL discs in any pc world etc.

maybe you can copy the information off the dvd on a PC and just burn it onto 2 x normal DVD +R discs?

Dual layer disks are buggers to work with. The failure rate is terrible. and last time I looked they were fairly pricey. McGon is right - you should try to split it over two single layerr disks or check the size of the data and if it is less than 4.7Gb burn it onto a single layer disk anyway
