[FTO MEET] Rare japanese metal meet [5th April 2009]

Postby colm_mcm » Sun Mar 01, 2009 9:30 pm

Date: 5th April 2009
Time: 12 noon
Location: Midway food court, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

This will take the form of every other mini meet, it's just an opportunity for enthusiasts of certain car models to meet up, have a chat, show off their car, answer questions, try to blag drives, take some photos etc.

A number of other owners clubs have been contacted and the list of cars wanted is pretty specific. This isn't a meet that is welcoming every make and model of car, at the moment the only cars we're interested in are:

Honda Beat
Toyota Sera
Mitsubishi FTO
Suzuki Capuccino
Nissan Figaro, Pao and S Cargo

I'm out of the country the weekend of the meet and I'm gutted that I won't be able attend. I have no doubt that this will be one of the best meets of the year - get your name on the list and represent!

Love the title of this post. And good choice of location, I think that'll help the numbers. Looking forward to seeing these cars. :)

All the other cars listed are nowhere near as plentiful as the FTO in this country, and with the exception of the Figaro they don't have Irish owners clubs. The UK clubs all have Irish members though. I don't reckon there's a need/want for an Irish only model-specific club for any of the other cars.

Things are looking promising at this stage.

It may be an idea to also advertise this meet on Octane, DTD and Torque Ireland etc where you're more likely to get the other makes.

Have already posted about it in the Banzai section of Octane, will be signing up to DTD later. Dan, do you know if there's any of these cars on Torque-irl?

EDIT: tried signing up on DTD, they're saying registration has been disabled by the admins?

Do we actually have the car park with permission or is it a case of turning up without asking anyone? I mean is there a chance we're going to get booted out of there by a narky security guard or anything?
