Temp Gauge reads Hot and when i rev it drops down

Postby Baroncell » Fri Mar 06, 2015 2:29 pm

Hello, am Nick and lately i decided to flush radiator and put new coolant.

Used a flush as the description on the product said. Then Poured in the new coolant (dunno why it took only 4 liters) and i took the car for a test drive.

After like 3-4 minutes it when hot (from a scale from 0 being cold and 10 being Hot i would say an *8* {right before the small danger zone }) and i tried to

!!!rev up to 6000-7000 rpm and notice that the heat dropped down to normal (little less than middle a scale 4/10)!!! (strange) and while driving normal went back up to scale 8 heat

i refiled 2-3 times as need but the 4th time didn't need any coolant so coolant leaking is out of the question

No oil in water either and no white smoke from exhaust (i read the thread about Marie having a heating problem but this is a little different)

Changed the coolant tower Cap

Appreciate any kind of help. Anyone else had similar problems?

Coolant temp sensor is faulty or the wire is loose?

Also worth checking thermostat.

Also have you bleed the system at all?

Hello brccrx and thanks for replying,

I have replaced the thermostat with a spare one i had from an old GR engine i had for spare parts. It was in a better condition than the one i had on the car.
I will have given it a go but i run into other problems in the way and now i can't move the car. I will go for a test drive as soon as my baby is ready. And i will
post the result!

Is there a way i can test the Coolant temp sensor (i don't have a spare one)

Also what is "bleed the system"?. If you mean massage the coolant pipes while the cap is on the tower and the car is running then yes i did that!

Thanks again,

Nick, Cyprus!

Hey all. I found the solution and i wanted to share it with you.

After paying 25 euros and had my radiator cleaned the problem was solved.

The garage technician that cleaned my radiator told me that it was full of mud :|

Sooo yea! Basically it was more simple than i thought!
