NCT fail - Emissions :(

Postby Mille » Wed Aug 27, 2008 9:39 pm

Hi All

Went trough the NCT today and failed a few things . Nothing major apart from the emissions .

The CO2 at high idle was 0.91 ( it should not be above 0.3) . The rest of the emissions were ok .

I done the usual things before test , like drove it at high revs and put sone stp in petrol to lower the emissions.

What do you reckon thats causing the high emissions . Looking for a place to start ?

Thanks
Mille

Is your cat ok? If the emissions are very high the cat could be causing problems. Check the lambda sensor too.

It sounds like this one is probably the CAT alright, my experience with the O2 Lambda sensor was that the emissions were off the scale (10-25 times higher than normal). It sounds like yours is closer to normal.

What was the engine temp when tested - this is written on the report. I think I had mine up at 85 or 90 degrees at test time.

Engine temp was 94 C when tested , is there anyway of testing the cat ? or is replacement the only way I could figure it if this is defo the problem.

Wheres the cheapest place to puchase a cat for an FTO these days ?

mine were that high too when i failed i got a universial cat welded into the mid section for two hundred yo yo's which sorted it out most exsaust places have the machines to check emissions so after you get a new one get them to check the emissions to see if it is fixed
