Gmail account compromised

Today someone sent a spam email to everyone i've ever mailed from my gmail account. I'm guessing becuase they could access the email addresses they were able to get some access to my gmail account and not just spoof the reply-to email address.

I've since change my password but I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? What did you do? Should I be doing anything else? Changing other passwords just in case? Contacting gmail?

Any advice appreciated.

You sure your a/c was compromised? Get a copy of the mail and go thru the header with a fine tooth comb, compare with a mail you've actually send and compare mail server host names, IP addresses. Check the a/v s/w and run an anti-spyware app to be on the safe side.

Ye sounds like u got some spyware there that accesed your mailing list, this is pretty common if you use a mail client such as outlook ,,you can send false mails with any senders address by easly using telnet in command,,+ no1 would kno unless they know how to verify it.


But i think the problem was some spyware accessed your gmail contacts,, i know for a fact that the gmail in-build virusus scanner is down at the moment. hope it wsnt bad spam..aka porn

If someone attempted to send an email spoofing your email address most decent spam filters would catch this. They simply do a reverse lookup of the mail record for your domain i.e gmail.com and if they don't match whats in the email header they'll quarantine it..... else they can come to me and i'll provide the service plug plug plug
