There's no real point since we changed over to kilometres, different story in the UK.
It's only really useful if you plan to either track the car or fit aftermarket 180MPH dials.

That said, I'd say the majority here would have it fitted bar the most recent imports.

Why would it be? Mitsubishi aren't stupid, the changeover is where it is for a reason.

Different changeover points have been experimented with on drag strips (MFFTO can elaborate) and the factory settings are the fastest.

We've covered this several times but basically - if you set the mivec lower you are changing the power band to achieve peak power earlier but it then petters out at higher revs - if you set it higher then you have a very short power band and will drop out of mivec zone between gear changes. JayVR tried altering the mivec at different levels at a 1/4 mile event that we entered an FTO team in and it proved to be rather a lot slower than when set at OE levels.

No mean to hijack but would it be pointless getting an emanage piggyback and a bigger set of injectors if you could get the lot for around €250 mark?
I suppose theres the dyno/mapping/tuning expense to consider also... for a max gain of what? 15BHP?

Obviously would make more sense for forced induction

Nope - slower all round - remember you'll have gone through the power band twice on the way to 60mph (first and second gear) on a non optimal setting for mivec.

Force induction doesn't make a lot of sense on a GPX mivec - and if you were to go this route I reckon a supercharger would be a better bet than a turbo.

There is power to be gained from going down the NA route with a piggyback ecu + larger injectors + larger fuel pump (walbro) + fuel pressure regulator + colder plugs (denso) + decat exhaust and a good map. Its expensive chasing NA power for the relevant gains but you'd end up with a more reliable car than if you went forced induction IMHO - esp on the mivec.
However if you went this route and still wanted more power at least you'd have set your engine up better (with the increase in fueling) for going down the FI route.

If you really want considerably more power in your FTO though - an EVO or VR4 transplant is your only man.
