Emission too high.

Postby Mark1989 » Fri Sep 28, 2012 2:48 pm

The emission was too high too pass the yearly test. It was 0,7 and it should be 0,4 max.
Lambda was 1,013 which was fine. Any ideas what could cause the high emission?

Thanks for the help!

Search is your friend Mark, emissions (and how to lower them) have been covered many times over the years.

I assume you have a cat, rather than decat pipe?

Still have my cat yeah, I searched the forum ofc, but its kinda weird because my lamda seems to be ok. I just resetted my ecu and emptied a bottle of redex in the petrol. Hope this will do something for it.

I doubt that what you have done will resolve anything. To fix :

1 Replace Lamda sensor (as this affects CO reading also)
2 Replace coolant temp sensor
3 Replace CAT

Mine was high to when it went for the pre nct. I had put redex in it before the pre test and it didnt seam to do a whole lot of a difference.
Then before the main test i filled it and used 3/4 of a litre bottle of diptane in it and gave it a good spin. Went for the test a few days later and passed. It took it down from 0.6 to 0.21 so I would recommend to try this
