Idiots guide to eBay

I know there are some eBay boffins on here so I have a simple question.

I have setup an eBay login. I have setup a paypal login and done that verify thing, now how do I buy stuff? Do I need to bid on the item I want on eBay and then somehow enter my paypal details or do I need to put money onto my Paypal account before I use it or will they just charge the credit card I have setup with them?

What is the best way not to get ripped off? Is there someway to insure the transaction in Paypal?

Yes just bid on the product u want.When u win it will ask u for payment.Then u pick to pay by paypal it will link u to the log in page.And just comfirm your payment as it show's u,and it will be charged to your
c.card.
