Marie is spot on the money - the car market has tanked - especially performance cars. The M3 my mate in work got is truely mint and 28k is a very low price. I can even see prices going lower again unfortunately.

What are you thinking of??

I presume just the usual bits and bobs that you'd be stripping??

I was thinking of just buying a Mazda CX7 and driving it for a couple of months untill a Zed I actually like comes up for sale. I'm not going down the road of spending 15K to mod a Zed from scratch again. I missed out on Giles' massively modified Zed in the UK but if I have something like a CX7 I can pawn it off on the missus when a decent Zed turns up.

Hence I need to offload my own Zed in the meantime - and if it means stripping the engine and exhaust mods etc and lowering the price then so be it. the rims and the kit stay on.

Unless you know anyone with a nice forced induction Zed for sale that'd be willing to take a trade-in?

My Zed is going to a stealers this week as a trade in (for 22k). Obviously this would mean loosing out on a straight cash price. So I'm offering it at 19,995 rather than give it away to a stealer. This car is absolutely incredible value for money - needs absolutely nothing except a good home.

I won't make anything on this car by selling it at this price (over trade-in) but I'd like to see it go to someone I know (esp on the forum) or at least a petrol-head that'll get the value from it.

Its sickening - but thats the current car market for you.

That is a sickening price to have to... well "give it away" for, is the phrase that comes to mind.

Shane, if you can hang on to it a bit longer. VRT has gone up on everything so that should be a good selling point as well for you. The VRT on the Rex went up by over 1200 yoyos, I'm lucky I got in there before it did. Best of luck as it's a cracking example.

Thanks Mark - but the Zed is gone now - traded in at 22K for a Range Rover Sport (for the missus - honest). I'll be keeping an eye out for another suitable machine for myself over the next couple of months.

I did manage to strip most of the choice aftermarket parts before trade-in though so if I do get another Zed - I'll have a good head start on the modding.

Thanks guys - I'll be putting up pics in due course - first though I'm waiting on a set of titanium colour supercharged alloys (20's) and some "subtle" mods. Won't be going the Overfinch/Kahn route as this 4wd will actually have to do some work.

I'm guessing he can afford it, and even if not it'll be worth the loan. I have an XC90 at the moment and would love a Sport as my next family motor. Well done again!

Think we'll all miss the familiar noise of the Z at upcoming meets. :(
Good luck with the Range Rover Shane, is it the V6 or V8?

Good stuff Shane, you didn't do too badly on the trade in. Looking forward to seeing the RRS at some point, they're a big lump of a yoke!

Its a passenger (I will be adding babyseats  ).
Its the 2.7 V6 turbo diesel SE spec - as it'll be mostly Maria driving it - it wouldn't make a lot of sense to go larger in the engine stakes.

I'll be driving it until Mar/Apr and will then be getting another Zed/Cayman/RS4 type machine.

As for running costs - road tax and insurance (440 euros fully comp) are much reduced over the Zed - and it'll also be more economical. I'll be buying my parts online as per usual and my usual mechanic will service the thing so I anticipate a reduction in running costs.

Fair play Shane,
I'm sure you're gutted to see the Zed go, but there'll be great choice and value to be had come the new year looking for a new toy!
Thats some replacement for the meantime though, well wear.
