Hows it goin!

Currently looking at getting an FTO and was sent this way by the guys on boards.ie.

I'm driving a run of the mill, dog slow 1.0l Corsa (runs for cover), which my mam will be relieving me of when I find the right FTO. I have a lead on one but have to wait for the owner to find his next car. It's a MIVEC so I'll be running for cover again when I get the bill for insurance

Anyhow that covers the car bit.

I'm useless under a bonnet, but hope to be able to change that with a little help from here.
I'm a student and just 21, always liked cars in general.

I'm Derek and I'm an alcoholic :D :D

That's me

Hi Derek..

welcome to the site - sounds like the insurance company will love quoting you :-D

I'd definately recommend that you check the bottom line before buying...just in case..

Welcome Derek. As Muad said, get some insurance quotes before you go any further, you don't want a nasty surprise down the line!

I've had a quote of 2200, but by the time I buy I'll have a full 2 years named instead of the 1 which should bring it just below 2k. I'm gambling on the market though that there'll be no increase in claims over the next 2 months

Thanks for the welcome guys

Hey, welcome aboard and good luck with the purchase!

Last year Quinn quoted me €1200 TPFT with 2 years no claims and I was 21. Try getting a quote from them online it always seems to be cheaper. I'm not sure how big the difference between named and full NCB is though.

It's actually €25 cheaper for 2 years named than 2 years NCB on the online system €1963 vs €1989 on the V6.

Should I be continuing this on the insurance forum??
