Looking to your FTO for inspiration/motivation Goz!

Where did you get your smoked side repeaters? I got a set last year but they look quite cheap and nasty!

Great, I actually have some tinting spray here, I'll give it a go myself!

New import plate on the front and manhandled a 9006 HID bulb into place. Now working, but the bulbs are incorrect fitment.

So...facelift arch liner and some rejigging of the front bumper to go, and the car is ready for NCT.

The trick with tinting is patience. Don't spray directly, start off to the side and run over the repeater. Wait a good 15-20 minutes before doing another coat. I think some lacquer finishes off the job.

Its gone quiet alright. Must be the recession :)

I got that 100mb broadband installed. pretty decent jump from 20mb. Maybe everyone else is downgrading, so their posts are taking a while to be uploaded? :smt005

Been spending more time on other stuff and less on the car lately. I just kitted out the yard with some garden furniture and a nice new bbq. had a bbq on Sunday. Happy days. When I get my leatherette seats delivered, it will be time to get some work done with the car.

I haven't really done anything with my FTO since September, it was just parked up in the yard. All inspired to fix it all up again now that the weather has started to improve...Back spending money on my lovely car!

Yeah I saw the leatherette seats, they will look great once theyre done. I'd do mine the same, but I've got the red Version R seats so don't want to! No. 1 mod I want to do is a manual conversion. I HATE it being an auto.

Yes. huge. I hate it being automatic, it lets the car down massively IMO. I've had two manual GPXs and they were far more enjoyable to drive. I want a manual conversion, but I don't have the parts to do it, or the tech know how!

The manual GPX is sold, I had a good few bits sold, made my bit of money, and then got an offer on the rest of the car pretty much intact!

Looking around at maybe picking up another donor car.

Should have, but the offer I got was too good, considering it was a wrecked old GPX, with various bits missing! It didn't even have brakes!

crap on petrol. The auto doesn't help at all with that though, I reckon I'm doing around 25mpg. I reckon my manual gox was closer to 30. I have an MR2 as well, and that is much much better on petrol.

Just under 400 for the GPX. Couldn't complain really, if you saw the state of it when I got rid!

that may have tempted me haha

Ya i really want an fto but i havent driven colt yet i.e not wired fully so if its very heavy on petrol i think it may change my mind about getting one plus id find it hard to insure at 20 id say.

i had a jap mr2 before turbo aswell what do u find quicker?

Have you uprated everything on the Colt to cope with the power? What about the suspension? With the right mods, I reckon that Colt could end up being seriously quick.

The FTO & MR2 are two different beasts, but both very enjoyable to drive. My MR2 isn't turbo, it's a Mk2 from 93, looks like crap, but has had a full mechanical overhaul (bought it from a farmer who had it in a barn for seven years), and is fun, its quick enough by itself with around 160bhp, but the FTO annihalates it with Mivec. The MR2 is a better car to live with daily, more comfortable, and better cockpit layout, as well as the lower running costs. But the FTO is my baby, the looks and the engine make it something special! Do your best to get your hands on a manual mivec, they are worth the money!

Ya i wont be investing in one for a while anyways i wouldnt say but id defo go for the manual one

Yes the colt has fto shocks and tein springs
strut braces front and back and underneat
and evo 3 brakes all round with carbontech pads
and 4 toyo proxies t1r's so i should be able to deal with the power hopefully

ill give u a spin off the colt for a spin off the fto ?? :D
