Whatever the problem is...it ain't bulbs! Didn't have to remove bumpers, but did manage to break one of the bulbs after testing it.

Everything is physically as it should be, so I dunno. I can't see the ballasts or anything like that, just the two clippy adapter thingies...any ideas what could be wrong? I've checked fuses

you have to remove the bumper to get at the ballasts

Got stuck into cleaning up my headlights today, as they were badly scuffed and faded.

Got 2 goings over each, but will need another one, am going to do it when I order my new HIDs.

OK, a few things in this post.

Looks like I'm picking up a 2nd FTO for parts.

It's a manual GX, so I'll use it for a manual conversion. Anyone able to do it for me, because I know NOTHING mechanically?

Also, what do I need to change from the manual heating in the VR to use the digital control from the GX?

Don't forget to swap the mirrors for the folding ones from the GR

I know steelroe has successfully done manual conversions.

Strip the dash off the old one and the layout of the climate control will be apparent. From memory, the heater box has actuators for hot/cold and air distribution. The climate loom may even already be in the version r. A quick look at the wiring diagram would tell a lot. There's a thermostat somewhere in the cabin.

Unfortunately, I'm no mechanic, I'm just going to strip the car down, and give parts to my mechanic to do.

Manual conversion is essential, I can't get over how different the two cars feel and handle with the different gearboxes. The GPX is so much lighter and more nimble, and faster!

Very hard to tell with a phone camera, but the car has gotten a claying, t-cut and wax over last two days. Paintwork is (by and large) immaculate now.
New sound system (inphase xt694s in rear, edge subwoofer) gone in. centre console made all nice and cleaned up. new battery and itg air filter gone in.

Still lots of work to do, but sorting some mechanical bits and pieces now too.

V nice but you've got to get yourself some clear repeaters and tint the rear clusters red to get rid of that 90's orange all over. Cheap and easy mods that bring the car bang up to date

I have stuff ordered from Ebay already...on its way! Then, new HID kit, and 20mm spacers are required!

And don't be going mad with that T-Cut either! Its grand for a once off to get rid of swirls or light scratches, but eventually you'll tear the laquer straight off the paintwork if you keep using it and the car will turn a nice grey colour thanks to Mr. UV Ray. T-Cut is a very strong abrasive compound and used wrongly it can and will destroy your paintwork.

It has gotten one going over, and I'll probably give it another going over in a month or two. Apart from that though, I'm happy enough with most of the paintwork. Bonnet and front bumper are chipped to hell, but the back looks like a new car really. Have a few mechanical bits and pieces to do next, and then onto undersealing, and THEN manual conversion

The front headlights look very dark. Did you manage to tint the back inside casing or something

It's tinting film, and it really was a doddle to put on.

Have to thank Gfalls for recommending it to me, he has it on his Alfa, and it looked good, so I did the same!
