Postby Diddler » Wed Dec 22, 2004 3:53 pm

Any1 got an aul' set of 17" wheels they would like to part with? Just looking for something to tie me over and get the standard look off the car. It's embarrasing

Ah, thats a different story! Steel wheels and hub caps were standard on the GS, its funny that they found their way onto your GR...

I thought it was just the GS that came with steel wheels as standard - surprised to see them on a GR.

What about getting the gold alloys from Mivec? They didn't suit a white car but they might look ok on yours - or consider a refurb on them.

Or Steelroe might have set of standard 16's. Better than steel rims for sure.

Buying a set of secondhand 17's in the right size will be tricky as the FTO fitment is not exactly a common size.
Try the buy & sell - but ensure you enquire as to the fitment - most people just seem to advertise 17's etc as 4 or 5 stud with no information as to fitment on PCD or bore or offset.

Just thought i'd stick it up here cause i'm sure some of you would have a spare set of wheels after buying your new ones! 16 or 17's would suit!

Since buying my FTO, I often have family, friends and at times work colleagues telling me when they have spotted an FTO, the car just seems to have that type of effect on people :!:

Anyway a while back a mate of mine said he spotted a '97 FTO with what he described as 'skinny' wheels :) .
I thought this a bit strange as
a. '97 FTO's are a rare enough sight (at present).
b. Even the standard 16" wheels with 205/50 rubber are chunky enough compared to a lot of cars on the road.
So I thought maybe he was a bit off the mark. Sounds like it could have been you Diddler

It was a few months back. Can't remember where he said but I'd say it was in the kildare/wicklow area, but he travels a bit with work so couldn't be sure!

Hi Diddler,

I have a nice set of 16" Gold Alloys with excellent Tyres on them.

Ill post Pics up here soon so you can see if your interested. The guy in the tyre centre said they are exactly the same size as FTO alloys and tyres so they would give very good handling.
